This is a quick easy read It s nothing life shattering nothing that will bring all your life choices into focus But it is an honest representation of the good that can come from teaching More importantly there s a lot of advice that can only come from a seasoned teacher I am already recommending this to my Education students in hopes they can glean some wisdom from it before they venture into the field full time I have kept all the notes my students have given me over the years but I wish I d thought to keep notes of all they ve taught me Hardcover Thank you NetGalley for this early read I had so much fun reading these stories of middle school kids and their very patient teacher While most would make you laugh a few could bring you to tears I don t remember much about middle school but I hope when my son is that age he will have a teach who is as patient kind and looking for the lesson in any adventure I also hope I can look at every experience as an opportunity to learn while my child grows And to be patient All the time Hardcover What a touching little book filled with lyrical school day memories from the other side A collection of sticky notes saved over a long career as a grade school teacher I definitely teared up here and there Sometimes the moral of the story felt a bit forced I just let my eyes blur over those parts This will definitely pick you up if you re feeling down I wonder where those kids are today Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the advance copy Hardcover In this book Matthew Eicheldinger recounts numerous student interactions over the course of his teaching career As a child therapist I greatly appreciated each of his stories as I have had many similar experiences with clients myself. Sticky notes on kindle scribe Matthew s accounts highlight how most often the educator is the one learning as many of his students were the ones teaching the most valuable lessons Many stories were very heartwarming and ended on a positive note while others were flat out heartbreaking Matthew conveyed how there are still lessons to be learned from all types of interactions even the ones that don t end so well. Sticky notes booklet One of my favorite lessons that Matthew describes is how simply being there for a child can make the biggest difference Many of his lessons also involve interactions with parents which I also greatly value due to the nature of my work with kids.
