Mad at Dad is a simple book about a girl is who mad at her dad She goes through different methods to be less mad In the end she realizes her dad is not so bad which shows that her anger is temporary The illustrations are bright and colorful and the book would be great for kids to explore emotions and learn ways to cope with big emotions Thank you NetGalley for sending this book for review Mad at Dad Such a great book for younger readers to learn about managing their emotions specifically anger Flawlessly the author included many coping skills that are easy for kids to use in their own lives when they get angry On top of that this book also shows that emotions are temporary and that love prevails even after an argument or after a tough emotion arises The illustrations perfectly complemented everything great about the story and the illustrator did such a great job of mirroring emotions with different shapes and colors in the drawings My one critique is I think that this book could have been shortened a little bit but it s not a big deal if it isn t shortened Some of the activities felt repetitive in a way or unnecessary to the story To make the book concise a few of these activities could be removed but I don t think it makes the book bad by keeping them. Why is dad so mad book All in all bravo Mad at Dad Big feelings can be very hard for little people The furious little girl in Mad at Dad provides some good ways to deal with anger but I do wish there weren t so few Even so Janie Hao s picture book bright with her whimsical illustrations would be a great addition to any school or classroom library In the interest of full disclosure I received this book from NetGalley and Kids Can Press in exchange for an honest review Mad at Dad
