Book dance on ice book J Scott This time we get an interesting pairing of two very different ice sports the oversized slightly brutish hockey player Stanton and the diminutive ice dancer Kenji Both guys are now training on shared ice in th eearly hours of every morning their respective coaches bullying them on the ice using horribly negative slurs to get them to improve I really hate this style of coaching so was super angry at both of them and very relieved when things change Though they were great friends as youngsters there was a rift and it is really touching watching them retrieve the friendship admit that it might well be much than just a friendship and navigate a possible future all whilst dealing with their coaches hounding them to be better For Stanton he has to find the strength to live his own dream rather than his father s For Kenji the road is much complex as he has a coach who demands his weight stay at a set point something he feels he can only achieve by starving himself most of the time It is difficult to read but the authors have done an amazing job of providing balance and insight. Dance on icegames I definitely recommend this book to you and for series fans there are plenty of links to earlier books which are very satisfying Romance Contemporary Gay and Lesbian I said with the other two entries in Chestorford Coyotes and I ll say it again here with a few exceptions I generally haven t read YA since I was about 14 years old but as this series is part of the Scott Locey Hockey Universe there was no way I wouldn t give it a go And boy was I glad I did Dance on Ice is an emotionally charged read that will first break the heart but then repair and warm it too You can t help but feel immense anger towards both Shaun s dad and Kenji s coach Ilya Will either be redeemable For that you ll have to read Dance for yourself but I will say emotions run very high and not always very favorably. Dance of ice and fire online Watching both Shaun and Kenji become the people they are meant to be is hugely gratifying The bulk of the story is the now timeframe but through the boys inner thoughts we get a sense of who they were before their friendship went down the crapper so seeing them move past that is as I said gratifying but also extremely heartwarming. Book dance on ice 2021 Scott and Locey do a magnificent job telling Kenji s eating disorder and how it is always there no matter how you get a hold on it with therapy and time it will always be lingering needing to be cared for What I really loved was they not only tell Kenji s side but also the side of those who care about them who want to help who tend to put their foot in their mouth times than they intend in their quest to help. Book dance on ice book It was nice to see Trent from Deep Edge book 3 in the authors Harrisburg Railers the original series that jumpstarted their hockey universe I had a feeling he would make an appearance with the figure skating connection and the authors didn t disappoint. Book dance on ice lyrics Dance on Ice is a lovely story of hurt comfort friendship young love but above all healing on multiple levels As far as I know Dance is the last entry in this series but I for one would love to see a holiday story to see where our young couples are 5 or 10 years down the road Dance may take you through an emotional wringer but in all the heart filled amazing ways Romance Contemporary Gay and Lesbian 4. Dance on iceheart brais 5 Another wonderful young adult romance by RJ Scott and VL Locey though it does hit hard with some difficult content see trigger warnings It s an ex best friends to boyfriends that starts off with Kenji and Shaun are at odds sharing the ice in the morning with both of their coaches determined to keep them apart Shaun s coach is also his dad a man with very strong opinions about everything to do with what Shaun should be doing with hockey and his life and it s really starting to get to him He pulled away from Kenji once because of his dad but he refuses to do it again especially with his close they become over time and what he discovers Kenji is going through The sport of ice skating is intense but when your coach has very old school and intense ideas on certain things it can get to you mentally and physically I think that the author s wrote this very well throughout the book both from Kenji and Shaun s POV as it s difficult for those around that person experiencing abuse of any kind as well I enjoyed the slow burn of the relationship returning to friends and rebuilding that trust before moving into something There is also the friendship group from the characters in the previous books who offer a lot of understanding and support to both young men It s also good to read the after parent for Kenji and how he moves forward I received an ARC and am happily giving a review trigger warning eating disorder mental abuse by coach homophobia from parent Romance Contemporary Gay and Lesbian Check out our full post for DANCE ON ICE on Wicked Reads OR on Wicked Reads YA Edition our teen friendly blog which includes an excerpt. Ebook dance on ice 2023 The bullying they both experienced was heartbreaking Seeing Shaun finally stand up against his father was everything as was Kenji s coach being exposed unfortunately at the injury of Kenji There friends stood behind them both and became the support they both needed. This was so sweet I know this is a teen series so of course it wouldn t be as heavy as one for adults especially an angsty one but I am still in awe that RJ and VL managed to write an eating disorder in a way that feels not that heavy somehow without also making it feel minimized or less than It has as many serious topics as a book like Blade also by RJ and VL yet it doesn t feel as heavy The light at the end of the tunnel is a lot brighter here This duo does have a great track record when it comes to treating sensible topics with respect without minimizing dramatizing or romanticizing them so I expected nothing less Romance Contemporary Gay and Lesbian OMG I love love love love Kenji and Shaun Clearly I have a type The struggles of dealing with your own stuff while trying to support someone else through their stuff is so realistic and moving There was just enough angst but also enough skating to keep it compelling This is my favorite book of this series I can t wait to see the decisions these kids make and who goes on to what future Romance Contemporary Gay and Lesbian I have been loving this sweet YA hockey series and Dance on Ice is no exception from the adorable cover to the best friends to romance What I will say is that this one hit me hard in the feels and deals with angst homophobia and an eating disorder All of the drama is well handled and well researched and the slow and sweet way these two come together is just wonderful. Book dance on ice 2021 I m sad that this is the third and final book in the series but I hope that this isn t the end of writing sweet YA romance for this duo Romance Contemporary Gay and Lesbian Very sweet ending to this coming of age series. Dance of fire and ice book Shaun and Kenji are very cute but they re dealing with a lot of stresses while they try to figure themselves out Their relationship is very innocent and it was so sweet but they also had a lot of seriousness with Kenji s eating disorder and abusive coach and Shaun s abusive dad I d love to revisit the characters from this series in future when they re grown up Romance Contemporary Gay and Lesbian Once again these ladies deal with a difficult topic and haven t shied away from the realities of it The story contains some humour is both serious and sad but felt like it tackled the subject of eating disorders truthfully and respectfully The character of Kenji felt very true and real He s obviously feeling used rejected unheard and just plain invisible by his coach This has obviously had an effect on his mental health and I found his feelings of denial real and honest For me Shaun is just one of those characters that you can t help but love He s got his own cross to bear but everything that he does just adds to his overall charm The story starts with him trying to reconnect with Kenji wondering what his relationship with him is and what it could be I really felt for both boys it s sad how they re both bullied by people they trust constantly being put down Fortunately their friends are there for them Soren Felix Tyler and Jonah from the previous books in the series always offering support I m really not one for spoilers so I won t say too much but I will say that if you enjoy books with a touch of romance reality and strong elements of coming of age themes this series is for you Also I liked that at the end of the story nothing is resolved too neatly and too quickly but Shaun and Kenji are together surrounded by their friends living their best lives Romance Contemporary Gay and Lesbian
