Back to Me (Quiblings #2) By Katie Duggan
Book back to the basics
Probably the duration of said songs which I didn t really like Within the first few pages there was already a handful of spelling and grammar issues and with the plot on top I just couldn t read on Jo and Hunter didn t feel like very well thought out people For people in their late twenties they feel painfully immature in their words and actions and I just didn t enjoy it The writing style felt like it was going for sexy but just came across as crude The constant references to Bridgerton made it obvious that that s what the author is trying to do with the whole queer siblings series thing Sadly.
Book back to the future tickets
Katie Duggan is now an auto buy author for me I ADORED Nic and Josh in From the Start and have been anxiously awaiting Jo s story Hunter and Giovanna Jo met during the summer when they were 15 After spending weeks together and being each other s firsts for everything they separated at the end of the summer and weren t reunited After twelve years some mental health revelations and coming out for each of them Hunter and Jo cross paths again working a wedding and soon become roommates These gals absolutely adore one another and their love is raw genuine deep and beautiful They show up for one another even when hard on themselves Hunter and Jo are also just SO into each other and their spicy scenes were super hot and steamy One thing I love about Katie Duggan s books are that she is able to create believable conflict without necessitating a third act breakup and in doing so she s able to highlight the importance of mental health and self care I love the way that Duggan reps disability body diversity and queer identities in her stories The universe she is creating with the Quiblings series is such a safe space where everyone is allowed to be themselves I loved seeing Nic and Josh again and all of the Quiblings shenanigans It felt like a warm hug This series is so so so good I can t recommend it enough Romance This books comes with a content warning why Honestly I don t know. Book back to the dirt I didn t mind the story nor did I really like it Now I wonder if that might have been influenced by the content warning it had me expecting something intense than this repetitive and mediocre story I do like how the body types are different from most of these books The support between our two mains is excellent although it s a tad unbelievable and over the top Mediocre book with different than usual representation Romance I loved this story so much Whether you are in the LGBTQ2S community plus sized have a mental illness have gone through a heartbreak loss reflection and this book can relate to someone in some way I have related so much myself personally when it comes to the mentions of mental health and ADHD Everything the characters have gone through or their feelings in regard to this connected with me on such a deep level I am a huge romance lover but new to reading romance within the queer community and I enjoyed it I think that it s great to write about we often see many straight romance books written and not enough for others with different sexuality or genders The romance all together was so cute and enjoyable I loved the story of Jo and Hunter and if you are into tropes small town romance and second chance love especially then you may love this book too I love the characters Jo and Hunter Their story was nothing but easy Through the ups and down with nothing but love and support for one another The spice between them was STEAMYYYYYY and HOT The patience support and patience just showed what a healthy relationship looks like I also loved the characters in Jo s family support all the way around. Book back to the basics This book felt real to me and again relatable and situations we do see in everyday life I loved the representations in this book SUPPORT all the way Everything else was just a bonus for me it was fun romantic sad spicy and sexy and overall a great read for me My first read from this author and I will definitely go back and read the first book in this series about Nic and Josh Any future books will be added to my TBR immediately This read was an ARC My reviews and opinions are based solely on personal and honest opinions Romance DNF 20%I really wanted to enjoy this book I really liked the concept but for me the execution was just not it I really struggle with contemporary books that reference modern day things so the constant references to Taylor Swift etc bugged me so much I ve never read a book with a playlist attached but I didn t really like the whole listen to this song while reading this chapter vibe with the song title at the beginning of each chapter The chapters were also really short this one just wasn t for me Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with this ARC Romance I got an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Book back to school we go First off I loved that Katie Duggan included both Clit Notes and a playlist related to Jo and Hunter in her book She s definitely the people s author Something that really stood out to me was the fact that she added resources alongside her content warnings She might not be the first author to do this but she s the first I ve noticed and I think it s such a thoughtful gesture that could really help someone who needs it. Back to me free book download Now about the story itself I wanted to like it but a few things didn t quite work for me There were some typos and formatting mistakes that pulled me out of the story and the breaking the fourth wall writing style wasn t my preference It felt a bit too juvenile for my taste. Kindle back to main menu The romance didn t feel super realistic to me either The whole I haven t seen you in 12 years but the moment I see you I m drooling all over you and fantasizing about our past felt like something teenagers would do not grown women I was hoping for a bit of a mature slow burn getting to know you again story. Shawn mendes there's nothing holdin' me back That said I have to give props where they re due This is the first sapphic romance I ve read where one of the main characters has MDD and Type 1 diabetes and Duggan handles both with a lot of care and clearly did her research which I really appreciated. Book back to the future tickets I also liked the little touches like the design of the text bubbles and phone chats It s small stuff but it made the reading experience enjoyable Romance Katie Duggan is a New England transplant currently living in Northern Virginia She writes romances that give fat neurodivergent and queer characters spicy happily ever afters When Katie s not writing or being kept up at night by her characters she can be found drinking iced chai lattes going to therapy convincing people to read her favorite books and doing whatever hobbies give her neurospicy brain the most dopamine at the moment When you can t see ahead try looking back Jo Quinn has everything under control After her engagement suddenly ends she is perfectly fine thank you very much Until her first love crashes through her walls and back into her life Hunter Cleary is looking for a new start after coming out and moving in with her first love might not be the best way to do it but it definitely isn t the worst When her new roommate finds herself planning her ex fiance s wedding Hunter steps up to the plate and volunteers to help in an unconventional way Jo surprises herself when she agrees to the outlandish plan because really it can t make things worse The fake they are with the world the real Jo and Hunter are with each other slowly realizing that there s so much to the other than meets the eye Because even though they re not fifteen any they still might be exactly who the other needs Back to Me Quiblings 2 I got to beta read this and IT WAS SUCH A DELIGHT Full review to come but y all already know I loved it Romance Back to Me is a sweet second chance sapphic romance with impeccable ADHD rep a rowdy menacing family with hearts of gold and a mechanical bull scene The communication in this series is just SO good the main characters treat each other with respect and care The spicy scenes are unbelievably excellent I liked the spins on the various microtropes that popped up one bed and grand gestures in particular This book is great for everyone but especially anyone who has felt like they re too much or not deserving of love for those afraid to take up space and for those who have ever wanted to name a bearded dragon Dolly Parton Romance Never be embarrassed by the soft parts of you I love the prickly bits too because they protected you when I couldn t but the soft sweet parts of you are so special to me What a lovely second chance romance I adored book one and was so excited to learn that book two was going to be sapphic In addition to being heartwarming with scorching spice there is chronic illness and neurodivergent rep Jo Hunter s love story spans years and this book features many flashback scenes of when they first fell in love as teenagers and how they find each other again over a decade later It s very sweet and full hope I had so much fun reading it thanks to the author for an arc copy in exchange for my honest review Romance This was the first book I ve read by the author and it didn t disappoint While it read easy there are deeper topics such as mental health physical health and homophobia The author did a good job at weaving them into the story and providing a delicate balance between not enough and too much I m also always a sucker for when one MC calls the other by their full name when no one else does so the times she didn t I was thrown off because I enjoyed it so much Thank you to the publisher for the arc in exchange for an honest review Romance This book is walking in someone else s shoes All good books should be but they are most effective I think when it is a completely different set of life experience to my own I am learning about living with diabetes depression as well as negotiating life with neurodivergence I have read books before with these challenges sometimes mains sometimes peripheral but this is the most I have felt I am walking in their shoes not reading about them walking in their shoes This on one hand has a common plot trope there are limited tropes so no surprise It is also a big book I some times got a wee bit confused with who was speaking when there were long conversational sections with few identifiers I will be honest I keep looking at how much book is left and thinking how will this be filled I liked that we were shown them getting closer and that there are conversations about off page incidents that reveal the mindsets of the mains There is a scene where the family and partners and possibly their best friends are introduced. Back to massachusetts song The intimate scenes didn t work for me which is a shame because there were some powerful messages in amongst them 70% and although there is currently no break up arc in sight there is the whole oops I love her can t tell her that they are both thinking That irritated me This is kind of two books in my mind A walk in someone else s shoes a line I know I used already but is appropriate all through the book and was for me the strongest part of the book There was also a romance This is not a light frothy romance It wasn t even a chemistry filled romance and because I got most out the shoes side it was quite a heavy book and a bit heavy going at times Romance
