Inspiring read The content was straightforward It doesn t have the frills that come with other western autobiographies I have read so far The recounts are presented in a matter of fact way I liked the take on leadership natural leader Vs thought leader shaping company culture and also the company s sustainability efforts English A friend of mine studied architecture and the entrepreneurship type is a big fan of Ho Kwon Ping so he was stoked that we have a second biography of him He s a total stranger to me and quick google of him quickly revealed his resume Founder of Banyan Tree resort Founder chairman of SMU SR Nathan first fellow all of which foreign to me except for the name S R Nathan and SMU It s actually funny seeing news and news of him covering him as one the most successful businessman in SG whose opinion and insight is actively sought for and you ask around and none of them know who Ho Kwon Ping is Even Banyan Tree the brand and resort chain is unknown Hey the first time I heard about Banyan Tree in a long time is because they finally have their first SG resort in Mandai opening 2025 So now we came back to the book about this man with a storied past that as far as I can tell is famous in the right circle and I m 6 degrees of awareness from him.
