Sassy heroine The storyline moves quickly and keeps you on the edge of your seat through most of it The characters are what I bonded with in this story Sparky and Buttercup I love cute names have such intense chemistry but keep denying it because neither one feels they deserve or are ready for a relationship You will love the characters and how they finally come to terms with their feelings for each other Loved the self defense classes This author does a good job with weaving the suspense with the romance In parts it felt rushed but it all came together at the end Spark of War and Love A Rogue Encounter Spark of War and Love is a good quick read What you get. This is the 2nd book in the series and it can be read as a standalone It is a rollercoaster ride filled with suspense romance opposites attraction revenge alpha protector but he also teaches her how to defend herself and its swoonworthy There s action romance loveable characters swoonworthy moments and great banter I couldn t put it down and can t wait to read Spark of War and Love A Rogue Encounter I enjoyed the dynamics of the two main characters Alex and Emily total opposites in personalities but they have a common love in cooking and they are able to work through their differences and work together in facing the danger of Emily s ex The sexual chemistry is there from the start but it takes awhile for them to warm up towards each other and admit their attraction I enjoyed the fact that Alex even though he was a retired Navy seal he wasn t such an in your face hero I thoroughly enjoyed the story and highly recommended to anyone who enjoys this type of trope. I loved that sweet Emily has a sassy side that sets Alex back on his heels a bit shows him she won t be a doormat and that she has an inner core of steel Their shared passion for food and cooking indicates to them both that they make a great team While he might take the lead when it comes to protecting her she can hold her own in a dangerous situation There is some intrigue and suspense in this book to keep readers engaged until the end though some of it is a bit anticlimactic I would certainly recommend this book Spark of War and Love A Rogue Encounter Before Emily met Alex she thought she knew exactly what she wanted a safe reliable partner who offered stability But then came Alex who was anything but safe and predictable As the bar manager of The Kill Zone and security expert on the side Alex had plenty of opportunity to flex those muscles A Navy SEAL veteran with a brooding intensity he s the kind of man who would make most women swoon but what truly won me over was how this tough as nails protector bonded with Emily over their shared love of cooking Who knew a man like that could also whip up a mean meal Though Alex believed men like him didn t deserve love Emily wasn t exactly eager to dive into another relationship either still recovering from a recent breakup Yet Alex in all his rough around the edges charm both unsettled and put her at ease Things heat up when Emily becomes the target of a dangerous man leading Alex to propose a fake relationship to protect her a plan that inevitably sparks some serious chemistry The banter between them was on point with just the right amount of teasing and flirtatious innuendo keeping me hooked as their slow burn attraction simmered into a full blown blaze What I really appreciated was how Alex wasn t too macho to teach Emily how to defend herself no damsel in distress here And Emily She could hold her own matching Alex every step of the way All in all it s a fun steamy read with likable characters plenty of sparks and a storyline that keeps things interesting from start to finish If you re looking for a romance that s equal parts action heat and heart this one s a win.
