For years Tessa s life revolved around her husband and her children After her marriage ended she focused on starting her own business one that involves her love of food But lately things have been weighing her down Her marketing skills are dire and she needs to enlist some help If it results in the chance to have a fling with a sexy photographer even better Except when he turns out to be her children s teacher and then becomes sort of related things start to get complicated Eleni is exhausted by life She s at the end of her tether with work a sick mother lazy husband and a high needs child The only thing that make her happy is cooking She feels like she is spiralling out of control and she d kill for a break Only not literally Abigail just wants to become a professional athlete find a boyfirend and get her licence Oh and lose some weight sos he looks like her best friend Maddy She does NOT want her mother to date Mr Bacon the hot media teacher from school Can they all have their cake and eat it too Bringing Home Mr BaconLoved this book read in 1 sitting I was pleased that a person with a disabilty was integrated as well Lovely easy read Nikki Perry Finished Bringing Home Mr Bacon in just 4 hours I loved the recipes and they gave me vibes similar to the Hannah Swensen mysteries by Joanne Fluke The book primarily follows Tessa a former homemaker turned entrepreneur alongside her teenage daughter Abigail and Eleni the Bacon family s caregiver Tessa s transition to business ownership gets complicated when she meets a charming photographer who turns out to be her kids teacher Meanwhile Eleni is overwhelmed by life but finds comfort in cooking and Abigail is dealing with high school drama and her mother s potential romance with her media teacher The story is filled with drama food and unexpected twists While parts of the plot felt scattered example Eleni s sudden lottery win seemed a bit out of place Abigail s schoolmate Maddys bitchy teenager attitude and Tessas ex husband Keith were annoying the neighbour Sonya and her revenge gnomes brought a fun touch If you overlook some of the character quirks and plot points it s an enjoyable and light hearted read Nikki Perry Part rom com part family drama this one has all the emotions I found myself laughing out and cringing at the awkwardness Told from the points of view of Tessa her daughter Abigail and carer Eleni I loved seeing their different perspectives the and getting to know each of them and their struggles As well as a lot of fun with gnomes it also covers some serious topics such as body image eating disorders in competitive sports and carer burden I enjoyed the romance between Tessa and Mr Bacon It was nice to see Tessa move on after her previous divorce She certainly deserved it Families and break ups can be very messy The food sounded amazing and I don t think I can look at cream puffs in the same way again The writing between the two sisters is seamless you can t tell that there are dual authors The end result is a perfect mix of drama humour and an overall happiness that you spent time in their world Nikki Perry
