They reach from the shadows book pdf She is tough and stubborn and not very well liked by her fellow officers She does not seem to care who she pisses off The reasons for her demeanor and attitude are explained as the story progresses After arresting one of their own she is further demonized for being a traitor She is soon suspended on trumped up charges. They reach from the shadows book 2 What I liked 1 The investigation mystery of what happened to Beth and Jenna When the author focuses on this aspect it is a very strong narrative and I was eagerly reading to find out what happened and how they were connected. They reach from the shadowsgif 2 The opening chapter I read it with a certain perspective of who the killer would be But that was a great twist and tied together nicely What didn t gel with me 1 I love mysteries and thrillers I don t mind when there is some romance But Cait would be investigating then suddenly be talking about the ADA s blue eyes butt etc This happened a lot and was very distracting to the plot of the story. They reach from the shadowsjar 2 The constant reminder that Cait was not a girly girl Although I mostly found Cait likable by the end it was repetitive that she didn t get her nails done didn t wear make up didn t wear dresses was a tough ethical Brave person As a matter of fact her nickname was Brave and it is repeated so much I felt like her tough strong persona was being pushed at me on every other page But we could see this about her when she was doing her investigation. They reach from the shadows suspense story 3 The last attacker I felt this was added to gain sympathy for the murderer No matter what the murderer did at the end to protect someone they still killed a girl I gave this a 3 because the original mystery was very good If you like of a romantic suspense and aren t detracted by random thoughts about love interest then you d would really enjoy this book Based on the strength of the mystery aspect I am planning on trying another book by this author English Good one They Reach from the Shadows is a well paced deeply intriguing psychological thriller It has a great plot which was handled expertly by the author the setting described throughout the novel painted a vivid picture for readers and the characters were well developed and highly likeable even the villains Michael Devereaux did an awesome job with the protagonist Caitlin O Hara a feisty badass cop whose grit and determination was perfectly balanced with her love and devotion to her family When Cait is knocked down by being framed in her regular job as an LA detective she comes up swinging as an investigator in her home town of San Junipero Serra after her sister calls about a murder which bears a striking resemblance to another murder that has haunted Cait since HS Are the two murders connected Is it the same killer Cait is dead set on finding the killer or killers The plot twist at the end blew me away I didn t see that one coming and the novel is set up very nicely for a sequel There were a few errors in this book though the guidance counsellor s name went from Olivia to Olive after a few pages And Josh the son of ADA Cam Winters Cait s crush was mistakenly described as Jake s son at one point Overall there is not enough to detract from this being a very good book I highly recommend this to all readers and I m looking forward to the sequel Thanks to BookSirens and the author for the ARC. They reach from the shadows book summary I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily English They Reach from the Shadow by Michael Devereaux is a gripping thriller that hooks you from the very beginning Devereaux s writing is clear and engaging making it easy to get lost in the story The plot is exciting and easy to follow with twists and turns that keep you guessing right till the end of this story The characters are well developed and relatable each bringing something unique I really liked Cait and her character in general espesially knowing that she was created by a man writer She showed in the story as a badass cop with high morals she wants to do everything right even if she has to arrest a dirty cop for that One of the best parts of this book is its atmosphere Devereaux paints a vivid picture of the settings making you feel like you re right in there The descriptions are so detailed that you can almost feel the tension and fear from the plot. Book they reach from the shadows review Overall They Reach from the Shadow is a good read for anyone who loves thrillers I totally enjoyed every page of it If you want a book that will keep you hooked this is the one to pick up To be honest Michael Devereaux is a nice discovers to me and I definitely will look into his books And if there would be another book about Cait you will love it too The main character Cait CaitLEEN O Hara as her Irish father pronounces her name is a homicide detective with the LAPD with a reputation for never giving up never easing up on working until she s got her man or woman She goes home to a town near San Francisco where she was born and her family still live after being set up and suspended She quickly realises two things the murder of a sad lonely girl whom Cait believes she let down ten years previously still haunts her and that the geeky boy she defended at school is now a tall well built handsome assistant district attorney She is called home by her sister desperately upset and becomes involved in investigating a second murder a copy of that of her school friend The author very clever gives us a glimpse of the killer s terrible life as a child but there s a twist I never saw coming that s revealed only at the end I intend to read of this author s books English Cait is not living her best moment in LA and after receiving a phone call from her sister she goes back to her hometown and gets involved in a murder investigation that resembles the one when her friend was found killed on the beach She will face prejudice from her co workers will face danger but will find support from family and friends and will find the culprit The story is well written it has lots of action and romance and proves to be good entertainment A good start to a new series I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily English This book was something that I wouldn t normally read But I found that I couldn t put it down I loved learning about the characters I loved watching the friendship blossom between Cait and Sager I also loved watching the relationship blossom between Cait Cam The end of the book though was something I wasn t expecting It was a complete and total twist that kept me on my toes It was really well written I d love to read from this author I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily English received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily Wow of thw most suspenful books I ve read on a long time.
