The Polar Papers epub reader People are not who they first appear to be unlikely alliances form and the truth becomes questionable but the focal point remains on the Arctic What is happening there and who is intent on keeping the rest of the world from finding out The Polar PapersFantastic As soon as I started this book I could hardly put it down Every moment I had I was reading Compelling interesting beautifully written and featuring some really wonderful characters who I ll miss dearly The Polar Papers Widowed retired policeman Steve Blake is a PI now tailing cheating husbands or investigating minor crimes That all changes when he gets a call that his uncle Randall a noted scientist has committed suicide He goes to settle his uncle s estate and the real adventure begins The author has crafted a non stop actions packed unputdownable tale where few people or events are what they seem to be at first glance Soon it becomes dangerous to be in Steve Blake s wake Steve takes his inheritance some charts to one of Randall s researchers Jenn Murphy and they quickly meld into a team bent on discovering why the papers are so in demand and what happened to Randall The secondary characters enrich the tale with their strong ties to Steve and their own complex backstories This is a clean story with minor exceptions of a few well placed expletives This is Underwood s debut novel and can t wait to read the next one I received an ARC of this novel but the opinion expressed here is my own freely given Highly recommended The Polar Papers The Polar Papers is a thrill ride Former cop turned PI Steve Blake finds his life turned upside down when his scientist uncle dies from an apparent suicide With the help of his uncle s assistant the lovely Jenn Murphy Steve investigates and they soon find themselves on a case that sends them zigzagging the country dodging threats from U. Polar peppermint k cups S and Russian agents crooked politicos and compromised scientists all while trying to avert a plot that would cause a global catastrophe This is a world where no one is quite who they seem where motives are murky and the action is fast paced with plenty of surprises But this is also the story of a good man hardened by grief learning to trust and perhaps love again Author Underwood is deft at both characterization and action and the result is a novel that pulls you in and sends you careening on a journey rife with suspense and unexpected twists Note I received an advance reader s copy of the book from the author and I m so glad I did It is truly a great read The Polar Papers
