Dad Next Door (Crimson Club # 5) By Willow Dixon

And I absolutely adored watching their friendship transition slowly into Hands down my favorite couple of the series Kindle Edition Bi awakeningDemiFriends to loversNeighbors Age gapQuinn is a dancer at the Crimson Club He has an OF page and uses his online presence to support him financially He used to work in the adult film industry Now he is working on setting up a construction business He just moved into a new house in a new neighborhood. Tristan is a newly divorced single father He works as a veterinarian and constantly has to deal with his ex making his life difficult He does his best to provide a happy life for himself and his son Quinn is Tristan s new neighbor A lost furless cat brings Tristan to Quinns door The two hit it off as friends and when Tristan is in need of a wedding date Quinn is happy to provide himself up. I have mixed feelings on this one There was just too much explanation of things going on It made the story very stilted It took away from the romance part I wanted to love it but it just fell flat for me Still had moments of cuteness and lovely HEA Kindle Edition Stripper meets single dad in this sweet story of self discovery I think I d classify Quinn and Tristan s story as a slow burn although they have a great deal of chemistry.

What can I say about myself It s kind of like being the new kid in school and being asked to tell everyone a bit about yourself Anyone else forget everything they ve ever liked thought of and even their name in those moments A few facts about me I m a veteran I m Canadian and I love books I ve been writing my own stories since I was eight and wrote my first novel at sixteen I m the first to admit those attempts weren t my best work but they started me on a journey of creating stories that has led me to fulfilling my dream of becoming an author I ve written and published in several genres under different names but MM is by far my favorite and I m so happy to be able to share my stories with people today. I currently live on Canada s east coast with my kiddo and my cats I have a shoe collecting addiction and I enjoy taking long walks discussions with friends and reading anything and everything I can get my hands on. What started out as an amazing read kinda turned into a meh read for me I loved the first half of this Absolutely a 5 star read for me The connection between Quinn and Tristan was great in this the chemistry was so good and the story had me hooked These two were just working so well together. Then around the second halfit dropped off for me The author fell into the trap she did with the previous book It was all tooperfect Meaning that these two talked everything out they took their time before starting anything any potential drama was always easily fixed What could have been the main source of drama in this Tristan s emotionally abusive ex was barely a problem in this ever For an apparent narcissist who couldn t let Tristan go near the end he lets him go very easily It just felt like the author was trying too hard to write these two the correct way as in not problematic in the least It rang false for me I even ended up skipping their sex scene near the very end near 95% because I kinda just wanted to be done with this already There was no heat no passion the chemistry fell way off There s only one time on page they have a heavy make out sessions before sex way too late in the book Every other kiss is slow and intimate and about their love not just getting off and blah blah blah And sure slow deep kisses have their place but it s okay to have them let go and be wild for each other too It just kind of became meh for me So with that first half being so amazing I balanced my rating out at 4 stars as the second half was of a 3 star read for me. The author did this last book as well but in this one it skips over what would have been interesting scenes and we just hear about it afterward Like Tristan meeting Quinn s parents for example I was looking forward to that scene when they talked about it and then we never got it. Also others might like this but Leo Tristan s son is barely in this There was enough in the first half to establish that connection between Leo and Quinn but there s barely anything with them or even Leo in general in the second half Leo is a sweet adorable kid and I wouldn t have minded seeing of him For a book that was taking forever to get Quinn and Tristan s fire going as a romantic couple it barely took enough time to really build that bond between Quinn and Leo as future stepfather and stepson. I was so bummed out that it started to drag for me in the second half I was really loving the first half and was so hyped for the rest and it just kindafell by the wayside Too much moralizing and trying to be as healthy as could be which again in real life is what we should strive for but in fiction it s just a bit boring and also comes off a bit preachy and pretentious A little like yes here we are about to have sex but because we love each other so dearly and respect each other not because we just want to fuck how tacky kind of attitude Just so high and mighty Which again I want them to love each other and respect each other but maybe don t preach about it every time they do Or maybe just show us instead of telling us I don t mean them checking in with each other and getting consent but they would talk out everything and also talk about it afterward and I m just likejust have some hot dirty sex together ffs As sweet as it is it takes out a lot of the passion when they do this kind of preachy ness all the damn time Likelet them act a little human sometimes But anyway as much as that annoyed me this still does get 4 stars from me for the amazing first half Everything was clicking in that half They had real problems too as Tristan s ex felt like a legitimate problem who could do so much to them of course he ends up barely doing anything at all with an easy fix to make him go away for good basically and cause so much drama the build up was doing so well and the chemistry was so good. But the second half just fell way off so that s wherein my problem lies The overall rating is still good because of that first half but I wasn t all too happy with the second Unfortunate as I was really loving these two together and they could have continued to be amazing together I was so excited to give this book 5 stars butit was not to be It s still a higher rating than the previous book for me but not by much I hope in future works we can get a little messiness and passion as I know this author is quite capable of doing Unfortunately for this one it didn t quite hit that mark. I d still recommend it as overall it was enjoyable As much as it dropped off in the second half there were still enjoyable parts to be sure It just unfortunately missed that 5 star mark for me. I m excited however for the new series coming out later this year focusing on Jesse Quinn s brother and others that work at his garage A new setting will definitely be fun and exciting Onto the next I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest review My Ratings for the Crimson Club Series Stepbrother Dearest 4 stars my review Fakers with Benefits 4. 5 stars my review Dad Next Door 4 stars Their Wicked Ways Will Not Read Kindle Edition This was someh There were so many subplots that initiated tension but it never went anywhere so it was very anticlimactic and a lot of the book ended up feeling completely pointless. Why start the neighbour issues if nothing comes of it It added nothing to the story whatsoever and should have just been chopped out The ex was built up to be an abusive and controlling dickhead who wanted to have everything his own way but then nothing came of it He just disappears like he s had an entire personality change Either have the tension with the ex that leads to some kind of showdown and resolution so it keeps the plot moving or don t make it such an integral part of the plot that just ends up being as gripping as a puddle of lube. The MCs were also so bland I kept forgetting which POV I was reading because they were almost the same person Plus it ended up feeling like research notes and pontification for ADHD anxiety and moving on after divorce There was nothing interesting at all. It s a shame because I really liked Quinn in the previous few books but here he has as much personality as a cucumber Kindle Edition 3 stars You don t have to pretend to be anything because you re already everything Quinn and Tristan s story was sweet but was lacking something My heart wasn t fully invested in this one There were way too many dialogues and inner monologues that went on for pages and pages A whole lot of extra filling that made me lose interest in them as a couple I don t mind the evil ex trope especially when mixed in with some fake dating to make them jealous but I don t feel it was executed quite right here The ex was barely present the fake date too short There was no real resolution in the end either no grand dramatic fight. The smut was also a little lackluster I know I know I can t possibly expect authors to reinvent the wheel but it just felt really bland Yes it was slow and sweet and it fit the characters but there was no spark no passion It felt repetitive after a bit so much so that the switch scene felt almost identical to the first sex scene It was all I saw stars behind my eyes it has never felt like this he looked at me like i was special over and over again My last point is the ADHD rep It felt a little forced Like okay Quinn has ADHD but do we really have to constantly bring it up Can they not talk about anything else Is every issue they have have to lead back to his ADHD I m all for inclusive representation but not when it doesn t feel genuine Not my fave of the series by far Had its moments and will definitely be a nice and sweet and fluffy read for most I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest review CW and tropes spoilers Single dad Retired pornstar vs veterinarian Lots of pets Bi awakening Friends to lovers Fake dating Found family Asshole ex Mentions of emotional abuse ADHD rep Demisexual MC Slight age gap 10y 28 38 Vers MCs Rimming Kindle Edition 4. 5 starsWow this book was so freaking good I didn t know what to expect Honestly slow burn isn t my favorite but it worked so well here and it didn t feel like it was dragging at all Tristan and Quinn are such a great couple together If you were going to like do like a build a bear of the perfect partner these two honestly they have the best characteristics that you could ever want They re thoughtful considerate open minded non judgmental and the way they communicate chef s kiss it s just perfection This was just so unexpectedly sweet and satisfying and I loved it Highly recommend ARC received from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest opinion Kindle Edition Time of Death 60% Dry bland romance Conversations between the MC s were a constant therapy session I didn t buy the romance between them at all and we got told than shown the friendship Almost every dialogue session between these two was a trauma dump and info session It s like the author spent time explaining what she thought a healthy romance should look like than actually creating one I am not sure how I feel about the ex husband drama I don t think it s necessary to villainize a character to make the new love interest the better choice It comes across as See this new relationship is so much better and healthier because look how horrible this past relationship was I don t hate villainous ex s They are great antagonists I just hate when they are used to raise the new love interest s value to the reader I couldn t make myself finish this one I was both bored and exhausted from being in the characters heads Kindle Edition

Moving into my first house is step one in starting my new life Next is setting up my contracting business I m so focused on my future that a relationship is the last thing on my mind Then I meet Tristan the single dad next door He might be my total opposite but we click in a way I ve never experienced and he quickly becomes one of my closest friends After attending a wedding as his fake date to make his ex and his ex s new boyfriend jealous I can t deny that things between us have changed I always thought I was straight but being with Tristan doesn t just feel good it feels right Having a fling with my neighbor might be a recipe for disaster but it could also be exactly what we both need to finally move on from our pasts Quinn and Tristan s story is a friends to lovers bi awakening romance between a retired porn model who just moved into his first home and a single dad trying to navigate life after divorce Expect a fake relationship an age gap found family all the feels lots of spice and tons of heat as these neighbors find out that sometimes opposites really do attract It is the fifth novel in the exciting new Crimson Club series but can be read as a standalone Dad Next Door Crimson Club 5 Dad Next Door (Crimson Club # 5)This was such a fun and sweet story I ve been excited for Quinn s story since the beginning of the series I m not usually a fan of slow burns but with Quinn and Tristan it worked It was nice to see them slowly build a friendship that grew organically into a beautiful relationship I m excited to see what s next for the series Tropes single dad age gap slow burn friends to lovers hurt comfort Kindle Edition ADHD demi rep bi awakening neighbors single dad age gap 10 years friends to lovers I have loved Quinn since his character first appeared in Grey s book and have been impatiently waiting for him to get his own it was perfect His and Tristan s story did not disappoint It was so sweet and steamy they take the time to get things right and build a solid foundation I enjoyed the cameos from other characters in the series especially scene stealing Nick and the set up for Jett s story coming next Kindle Edition i needed quinn s story so much and i m so happy i finally got it the delivery was excellent but also i just loved tristan so much i actually wanted to hug him all the time i honestly loved how much time passed before they got together they both needed that time and their friendship before starting a relationship something that bothered me is that sometimes this author s characters talk like robots that want to sound like humans but that might be just me i read an arc and this is my honest review Kindle Edition.
