Throughout the story there is an even greater secret that is lurking that threatens to throw everything off balance I thought that the story sweet and the fears very real This story was another story where it gave me chills to think about and the reality of the situation. Unexpected Romance Collection by ChristineMWalter is a collection of short Regency stories with their own special flare I would like to express my thanks to Christine M Walter for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review Betrothal to a Highwayman is a thrilling story that is full of adventure and justice We get a strong first impression of the MMC and FMC one who may or may not be a highwayman stealing robbing and pillaging We have a strong female character who has only one thought in her mind and that is to get vengeance for her father s death Though this story was only five chapters it packed a punch in mystery in every corner and action following suit The MMC was a dashing man and the FMC was a strong female who knew where her priorities were Not What She Seems was a sweet tale between two people who are oh so different This short story gave me a glimpse into the life of a deaf woman How instead of finding someone she truly good love she and her partner were tricked into marrying to each other The author did a wonderful job explaining the frustration the FMC felt with her interactions with the characters and I felt my heart hurt for what women and men during that era must have gone through just to have someone take them seriously To Win A Heart was the longest story of the three The story at first has an air of mystery A mother forcing her daughter into a marriage that is clearly not wanted and with a man who does not have the best intentions And a MMC who does his best to save this woman from her reputation being ruined However but the second and the third one were my main favorites I do wish the second story could ve been a little longer the third one even longer just to know what happens with Ben Aurora and then Daisy Ella But overall they were all really cute and I really enjoyed reading them Thank you for the Arc Christine M Walter Brides they may be but love comes unexpectedly Betrothal to a HighwaymanFearless Lady Rachel Augustine aims to disguises as a man and lingers in a pub full of ruffians of the shameful sort All for a great noble cause of course to find her father s killer Who else could she rely on to bring justice Certainly not the vexing handsome man who d waltzed into her life and thought he could woo her with his teasing But when things turn dangerous on a dark quiet road Rachel will need to let down her guard and trust with much at stake One thing I knew for certain as I kissed this unexpected vexatious man was that life would never be dull and 1 would always feel safe in his arms Not What She SeemsLovely Miss Nicole Spears s mother does the unthinkable tricks a kind and gentle widower into marrying Nicole while hiding something very important Lord Harrell hadn t the foggiest that his fair new wife could not hear Neither did Nicole know that he was unaware of her impairment Hoping for love and acceptance is at stake when supposed rejection threatens their happily ever after In her own pose as a highwayman Arthur is a caring young man I liked his kind gestures Not What She Seems Poor Owen has no idea why his wife hasn t talked to him for several days Nicole s acted inhuman and in a cruel way by not telling Owen that her daughter is deaf Once the two are finally communicating in a way that works for them their romance and lives fully begin I loved this sweet story The confusion didn t stop from living wonderful lives To Win a Heart Aurora believes her dreams of marrying are dashed due to an accident I highly disliked her bitter attitude to her new husband I know her life hasn t been easy but being cruel is unacceptable Ben is loving and caring and just wants his wife to be his wife I truly believe Aurora needs to set aside her secrets I loved Daisy and Aurora s sister Ella They were both so sweet I loved their joy for life and humor Christine M Walter Hidden identity marriage of convenience and enemies to lovers oh my This collection of 2 short stories and 1 novella has it all In Betrothal to a Highwayman the heroine disguises herself as a man in order to seek out the killer of her father. Love returns in unexpected ways novel I really enjoyed the unique problems in these stories There aren t very many books out there with deaf MCs and while there are a few about MCs who are hiding ashamed of a disfigurement I have never seen one about this particular problem If you re looking for an exciting regency romance that won t take too long to read check out these stories in the Unexpected Romance Collection Thanks to the author for the arc copy All opinions are my own Christine M Walter

This collection was wonderful Each story was a different length but were all packed with swoony romance without the spice I loved the sweet characters and each plot The different plots were lovely and had their own tropes.
