It s been a while since I got so caught up in a book that I felt compelled to read it while I ate my lunch but that s what happened with Captives The mystery unraveled by the private detectives Hadley Vince and Eddie was compelling and I fairly raced through the story to find out the truth Along the way there was plenty of drama suspense and tension as well as bits of humor in how the three detectives played off each other The characters were very well developed something you don t always get in a thriller. Captives bande annonce vf Now I have to read the first book in this series to catch up and to learn the background of the Hadley Vince friendship Captives Marcotte and Collins Investigative Thrillers Book 2 This book kept me up WAY TOO LATE but I had to finish it This page turner was exciting compelling and rewarding I truly adore Hadley s no nonsense attitude her compassion and her drive to get the job done Eddie was delightfully uncouth The remaining cast of characters are unique lovable and realistic The police work was fascinating without getting into the weeds The twist was surprising and so powerful shedding new light on everyone involved Looking forward to jump back and read the first cold case Hadley and her team met on Captives Marcotte and Collins Investigative Thrillers Book 2 I ll make sure to add the first book on my list and all the other following too I really liked the story and characters Even though I haven t read the first one I didn t feel at all like I m missing something I got enough background Info to feel satisfied The story was interesting with great characters enough mysteries and suspects to keep me on my toes Only minus was that some parts were too long descriptions of houses and the surroundings but that s only my opinion. Captivate skaneateles The multiple timeline of the novel adds to the suspense as the story alternates between Jonah s case in the present time his disappearance fifteen years prior and Hadley s own horrific experience than two decades before Tougaw expertly weaves between these scenes ramping up the action as the plot progresses and Hadley finds herself in danger This well titled thriller examines captivity against one s will or consent but also delves into a world where people choose to be captive to a way of life As well it explores the way family members are trapped in the past by the traumatic loss of a loved one not knowing where they are and whether they are alive With one turn after another Captives will have you racing to the finish as Hadley and her crew piece together the clues and the shocking truth is revealed Can t wait for the next big case this detective agency will be working on Captives Marcotte and Collins Investigative Thrillers Book 2 I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily And I want to be honest so that s what I m going to do I really wanted to like this It sounded so good and interesting when I read the little snippet for it But I wasn t overly impressed with it The writing was good the plot was good but otherwise everything else was just sort of eh This book just wasn t for me but it could be the perfect book for someone else That s what the beauty of books is Everyone has their own tastes It said that it could be read as a standalone but there were things said between the characters that just made it seem like I was missing something important from the previous book I didn t understand Hadley s what seemed like hatred towards Eddie was about It just sort of made her seem like a raging witch Just with a different letter at the beginning there It made it hard to connect with her and enjoy her It just made her dislikable right off the bat Vince however I did like almost immediately I was always happy when Vince was present And Eddie didn t seem like that bad of a character to me so I didn t really understand it I didn t hate Hadley I just didn t like her.
