It got me very emotional in places and it was just flat out a good story It s fairly angsty because of what Micah s sister is going through and how that affects him Nik also has to confront some things that he doesn t really want to. Book the wisdom within you book 5 months which just isn t enough time to build a meaningful connection between the MCs especially with all of the little time jumps and scenes that felt cut short I think that this could have been a really great story if time had been devoted to the two MCs and if I really got to know who they were and why they fell for each other rather than reading about all of the side characters and their drama. Book wisdom in bible 4 5 TWs drug addiction suicidal ideations check of them before reading the wisdom within is about Nik who s been in recovery for 5 years now and Micah who s struggling to keep his twin sister from using and get her into rehab it s as hard as it sounds tho i d say not as much as the first book but underneath it s about resilience and strength and faith in yourself loving yourself enough to get better and it also warmly reinforces the need for people to take the step themselves rather than have them forced on them it had the soulfulness of Gwen s writing i ve to come to expect from their other novels and the soulfulness in characterizations impressed me again. Book the wisdom within you the book thematically explores how an addict brain operates and the struggles their loved ones go through in seeing them in disarray and leaving them be Nik s journey in recovery how he floundered to have a purpose in his life beyond being a recovering junkie and helping those that used to be him how he still understood their pain and used his pockmarked past to aid those now on the brink of being lost was very cogently painted. Another heart felt winner from Gwen Martin I fell in love with The Collective from the first pages of the series and The Wisdom Within fits perfectly in that world Heed the content warnings though because while this book focuses on recovery from addiction it does have an active user as a prominent side character Ava s story is not uncommon nor is her brother Micah s He s so laser focused on saving his sister he almost misses out on a life changing relationship with Nik who s five years into recovery The sparks between the two MCs fly early and often but they also develop an emotional connection despite both their efforts to remain unattached They grow closer as Ava s disease progresses and I loved how Nik is there for Micah sharing his experience strength and hope Emotional without being totally gut wrenching there s plenty of steam in this story and a sweet happy ending It can easily be read as a standalone though the rest of the series is excellent Romance Gay and Lesbian Another great book in this series.
