Book Sawney bone broth There are a lot of characters in this book some that amused me some that disgusted me a few that I hoped would survive and a couple whose deaths would have filled me with glee This is a dark and disturbing read in all the right ways The ever increasing danger and gradual reveal of secrets kept me glued to the pages. Sawney boneplates boots My thanks to Grinning Skull Press Kindle Edition you mean censored don t you Our sanity and senses protected by moral guardians The butchery butchered And that s a sad irony because I m in the mood for a little dismemberment right now I need inspiration BaneOld school hate filled why is this happening to me horror Intimidating fear for your friends give up on your dreams kind of horror Sawney Bone just flooded me with adjectives the I read the I kept saying wow this book is somysteriousdisturbingunstablechillingon and on as these characters crawled under my skin like ticks that just won t come free The writing was so descriptive making you feel like you were there in the cave in the video store in their flat or in the pub The pub read this with a longing voice as you really wish you could go some place remotely like this The Slaughter Inn is the new pub which opens to much fanfare and discomfort It is horror themed and designed to make you feel uncomfortable Life sized Frankenstein s monster and the Wolfman guard the bar as the band Holocaust Freaks gets on stage to assault you ears Cobwebs dry ice skeletons an axe wielding executioner and a the cave like ceiling add to the ambiance as you take a swig from beers with names like The Impaler Old Corpse or Zombie s Bite. Sawney bonezzz This truly was a jaw dropping book It was vague in all the right ways so when things started to fall into place I was blown away Kindle Edition Leo Darke s an alias for Mickey Lewis Sawney Bone is billed in various places as book two in the 101 Ways to Hell series however if you have not read book one you can jump straight in here Little directly connects the two titles beyond being set in the Bristol era of south England I preferred this latest release to its predecessor Pandemonium 2020 and they have some similarities with Sawney Bone being set around a video shop and Pandemonium a bookshop They both have multiple musical and pop culture references and a sly sense of humour with Leo Darke reigniting his fascination with video nasties mainly horror films banned in the UK during the eighties This is covered in Mr Nasty 2022 which was released in the USA as Walking Shadow by Mickey Lewis and is similar in content and style If you enjoy Leo you will love Mickey Or the other way around: Sawney Bone kindle app You can read Tony s full review at Horror DNA by clicking here Kindle Edition
