EBook Crown of serpents Also the use of French and Italian modern words Buffet diva opera considering that opera was introduced in the 17 century it shouldn t have made an appearance in the bookSome parts of the story felt illogical At one point they mention that Perseus and Andromeda were getting married that day but then days are spent till the wedding Medusa was found stranded on the beach by the villagers and it was implied that she spent days but apparently it was hours And that ending did not make sense I don t think this is a romance so it was OK to have the book with one POV in the third person from Medusa s perspective However you really do not feel any emotion regarding the other characters. Book Crown of serpents kjv In terms of the other characters they were fine I didn t have strong feelings about many of them although I found Onyx intriguing especially with some of the reveals towards the end However I wasn t as compelled by Perseus as a character as I feel like I should have been I loved the bits at the beginning with him trying to sus out Melissa and where he seemed to try and trick her by getting the name of her island wrong but after that I felt like I didn t see much depth of his character I think it also didn t help that Medusa didn t seem as negative towards him as I would expect given he murdered her she was scared at first sure but there was no anger no want for some kind of revenge and I get Medusa s being portrayed as less of a monster but I don t think a bit of justified emotion wouldn t have gone amiss so we get a sense of change over time I sort of felt that the Medusa we had at the beginning is really no different than the one at the end in terms of her views on everything and inner thoughts. Crown of Serpents kindle book I paused and glanced over my shoulder We make plan after plan to escape or get rescued from our lives and we tell ourselves that someday something will happen to bring such plans to fruition It never happens but the idea that it might gives us sustenance for the next day Thank you to Sierra Storm and Book Sirens for the ARC of Crown of Serpents This was such a fun and fresh reimagining of Medusa centered around what she would have done with a second chance at life after being beheaded by Perseus I really enjoyed this what if scenario I loved how the author humanized Medusa and made you wonder if there was to her than the monster we all know I never really considered how lonely it would be to be in her shoes without the ability to make meaningful connections with others because you couldn t make eye contact In terms of mythology I did question why Pegasus was said to be a gift to Perseus from the gods for slaying Medusa rather than being born from the blood of Medusa It didn t really make any sense to change this point of mythology as it didn t seem to have any material impact on the story Otherwise I found the story to be mythologically accurate aside from the creative license drawn up to make this second chance scenario possible This read was fairly short and I think some additional depth and given to a couple key plot points would have improved the book overall A specific example would be that Medusa goes through a period of training in chapter 8 The length and nature of the training is entirely unclear it could have been days weeks or even months but it sort of just went from You re going on a mission to It s time for the mission in a few brief paragraphs. I read this book in one day It was a fun fresh take on Greek mythology I loved being in Medusa s head and watching her discover what it s like to be a mortal instead of monster The intrigues of the Greek gods controlling the lives of mortals and monsters alike was also fun I can t wait to see of this word and especially of Medusa It does have an open ending sort of cliffhanger so I need the sequel as much as I want it.
