And then there are wilders which are the wild animals and pets of this world Sometimes it s tiring to read about the same fantasy creature in every story and the creativity of the types of characters here was a breath of fresh air I was utterly charmed by the beings that inhabit this world but I especially loved the twig trots which are basically small mischievous bushes I have a few things that I didn t particularly love so my review will make a sandwich and tuck all my complaints between the positives My first niggle has to do with the way Wynn compared her life experiences to her passion for theatre that in itself was endearing because she drew a ton of courage and conviction from the heroes of her plays However.

4. Spindleheart pdf drive 5 I love novels that cast non human characters like the Tinkerbell short novels This middle grade is longer than those chapter books but it has a good pace for middle grade readers Sometimes I get a bit lost where they are or if it s a flashback but never who is who I like a novel with many characters and to see their goals team up developing in friendships There s Wynn who knows a lot of adventures and heroes only in plays but she never been on her own adventure She goes on a journey after making a mistake and losing an Artifact There is also Calla who wants an opportunity to prove herself and I like her relationship with her sister Thimble is just cute Lance and Beryl are fun They know a lot about pudding cakes and pies and now I want some This is a great start for a fantasy series with action magic and quests. Spindle hard drive Love the cover Want to collect the physical copies hope all the next covers will be like this one Thank you publisher and netgalley for the e arc Spindleheart Trail of Shadow and Spool Spindleheart Trail of Shadow and Spool by T. Spindle hard drive At its heart Spindleheart is a story about underdogs showing wit and bravery in the face of impossible odds Wynn the newly appointed Guardian of TallStalks and Calla a brash flower elf with dreams of attending an academy for gifted young casters may seem like unlikely heroes but together with their companions they prove that courage and determination can overcome many obstacles. Spindleheart booklet One of the highlights of the book is its charming cast of characters including the adorable larks and mischievous twig trots that inhabit the world of the Agrestal Avens s creativity shines through in the variety of fantastical creatures and beings that populate the story adding depth and richness to the narrative. Spindle hard drive While the world building may be a bit challenging at first readers will soon find themselves immersed in the vibrant and magical world of Spindleheart The well developed characters and intricately woven plot keep readers engaged from start to finish while the themes of trust friendship and family add depth and resonance to the story. Spindle hard drive However the pacing of the book could have been improved with some readers feeling that the antagonist s goals were not fully explored by the end of the story We also had to wait for Calla s and Wynn s intersection until the end to understand how both stories fit together Despite these minor flaws Spindleheart remains an engaging and enjoyable read with plenty of twists and turns to keep readers guessing until the very end. Spindle hard drive 5 I needed to read something light yet still within the fantasy genre my favorite The liveliness of the cover won me over and the characters are adorable I loved that the book was rich in magic and mystery plus I highly appreciated the art at the beginning of every chapter. Spindleheart ebook Nevertheless I found it a bit slow initially but I trust that the subsequent volumes will pick up pace I also noticed a few minor errors but the copy I read is not the final one being an advance copy so I trust these details will be corrected. Spindle hard drive Overall I recommend it especially to those wanting to delve into the genre without getting stuck in an overly complex world It fits well with its intended audience and is perfect for those who love talking animals and a magical adventurous world Thanks to T. Spindle hard drive I Avens and Over The Tall Shelf LLC for providing the ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review all opinions are my own Spindleheart Trail of Shadow and Spool A perilous quest A missing mythical chest And one very wayward tale After failing her duty as the newly appointed Guardian of TallStalks Wynn a young intrepid swirlear journeys far beyond the tangled stalks of her home to retrieve the very thing she was appointed to protect A gilded chest passed down in her family for countless generations As she races to find the magic wielding culprit responsible for the chest s disappearance she finds herself haunted not only by failure but by the possible peril that would be unleashed if the chest were ever opened Eager to leave her village and past behind Calla a brash flower elf trains for a chance to enroll in an academy for gifted young casters But when an unearthed family secret brings her sister and her into the most vicious part of the Agrestal lands she not only questions her future but the murkier parts of her past As each step draws them further into dangerous lands of the Agrestal Wynn and Calla may find that survival may lie within confronting what they re trying to escape Spindleheart Trail of Shadow and SpoolTrail of Shadow and Spool by T. Spindle hard drive The story started off with an intense mystery we follow the main character who was looking for something A place that no one wanted to go to but she is driven by an intense need to find something or someone I was intrigued by the continuous world building of this author and I was drawn further and further into the mystery Throughout the novel there was an air of mystery and nothing seemed right On the other hand there was also an elf who seemed disconnected to the story so I was waiting to see when these two main characters would meet. Spindle hard drive I think this book was well written the characters had a back story and evolved throughout the story The book had a bunch of lore and a well fleshed out world surrounding it Though at times the names of specific animals were a bit confusing but it didn t detract from the story much I think the author did a great job in the build up of the climax because I got into the story then and couldn t put the book down. Spindleheart ebook I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily Spindleheart Trail of Shadow and Spool Thank you LibraryThing and Bookfunnel for an unedited arc copy. Spindleheart booklet There are two main characters each with their own plot line and they do not meet making this novel quite clunky as both characters meet characters and everyone has funky names to remember Due to no indication of POV changes the chapters don t flow well and it would be nice if the pictures did indicate POV change I enjoyed the world building a lot And I feel this will be an amazing fantasy novel for middle graders Cons There are too many characters to keep track of how some of them fit into the story. Spindle hard drive I Avens and BookSirens for providing the ARC in exchange for an honest review I ll be honest the cover is what drew me to this book I was in a middle grade mood and it looked adorable The cute little critters from the cover are my favourite element of this story there are larks which are anthropomorphic animals or plants the part that annoyed me was the amount of name dropping of imaginary plays that the reader knows nothing about Generally I found I was invested in Wynn s storyline and elements about Calla s frustrated me Calla has a cool innate nature based magic called Frond Magic that allows her to conjure with buds fronds roots and other greenery Sadly I felt that it wasn t used in a way that added much to the plot progression and I wished it was relevant Although I appreciate the inclusion of a sibling relationship with Calla and her sister Saffron I didn t quite enjoy how their sisterly tension was presented Saffron is her older sister and when their mom disappeared she moved to another village so the sisters now have a strained relationship which is understandable However the resolution of their issues is questionable They apologized to each other but didn t meaningfully discuss their differences and I can t tell if that s purposeful or not Likely it s to leave space for growth in the continuation of the series which I understand but I wanted from their sibling dynamic than just bickering Okay back to a positive In her travels Wynn meets some bug larks and they reluctantly travel together I enjoyed the banter interactions and the way their friendship grew I appreciated some wholesome messaging in their adventures too as they learn that not every problem is best solved through fighting but rather through making a well thought out plan and outsmarting the enemy Valuing your friends unique talents abilities and knowledge even if they re not flashy or expected is exemplified through Wynn s character arc It left me feeling warm and fuzzy I will warn that it ends on a Cliffhanger so be ready to wait to continue the adventure I ll eventually pick up the next one in the series but I won t necessarily rush for it Overall I would recommend it to anyone who wants a middle grade that s a fun action adventure and wants to read about different creatures you haven t seen before Spindleheart Trail of Shadow and Spool Review will be published on my blog on 4 4 23 I don t usually read middle grade books but when the author of this book asked me to read and review their book and I saw the cover my curiosity was peaked I love the book cover because it s colorful and whimsical plus the synopsis was intriguing. Spindle hard drive This story is full of adventure and I thought the world building was fantastic The story takes us to a world of creatures and little elves that live in a magical land We follow two main characters first one is Wynn who is a swirl ear and she is searching for the person who stole a special chest she was guarding Wynn s story is filled with harrowing adventure and she meets some interesting characters along the way I love how Wynn has never left her home until now it reminded me a big of Frodo Baggins from Lord of the Rings leaving the shire She learns a lot on her journey about herself and what she is capable of The other storyline follows Calla a flower elf who is not on good terms with her sister Saffron but they meet up when she is called to Runnelloom to help with a mission or that s what she assumes When Calla and Saffron are together we get a sense of their tense relationship and that s really too bad for two sisters that just lost their mother But I feel like it s something that will be worked out I hope in the next books of this series. Spindelharpan gamla versionen patiens I did feel invested in Wynn s adventure mostly because her traveling companions Lance and Beryl are such great characters They made me laugh and I love that Wynn seems to have fallen into a found family situation. Spindleheart kindle cloud I do wish each chapter told us which character we were following Also because it s such a fantasy world full of creatures we ve never heard of it took me some time to acclimate myself to the names and phrases they used but there is a glossary which was helpful For some reason I was reading this whole thing in my head with a British accent I m not British lol but I just felt like that s how these characters would sound. Spindleheart kindle cloud My Final Thoughts This is a full of adventure new friendships quests and magic but also one that deals with some tough issues like strained family relationships and believing in one s self and worth If you are in the mood for a middle gra Spindleheart Trail of Shadow and Spool Also on Snow White Hates Apples. Spindleheart kindle cloud I Avens follows two non human protagonists Wynn a swirl ear and Spindleseer on a quest to retrieve the stolen Spindlechest which happens to be her village s strongest line of defence and Calla a flower elf and young caster whose sister involves her in a case where many wilders have suddenly been found dead. Spindleheart kindle cloud While seemingly unrelated the way the stories of both protagonists are linked is clever It was interesting to see how their paths converged and to piece clues together to gain answers I also enjoyed reading about their growth as Wynn realises she s braver than she thinks and Calla tries to be understanding and less brash Moreover the world building was wonderfully creative It s a perfect combination of lovely and whimsical that reminds me of Studio Ghibli s movies and Dianna Wynne Jones s fiction books for children. Spindleheart booklet Nevertheless as much as I adored the world building the characters and how everything came together the pacing could ve been much better By the middle of the book I only had a vague idea of the antagonist and by the end I gained no than a brief glimpse into his goals I know this book is meant to be the first of a series but the momentum should pick up earlier It would ve been better had there been a greater sense of urgency throughout Wynn s perspective since she is after all attempting to get back an incredibly important item. Spindle hard drive Further while it s important to have a solid sense of time for the story mentions and scenes like the ones where the characters sleep take a break and eat can be reduced They feel too much like fillers since they don t really move the plot along reveal crucial information and or build character Plus the smaller bits of information revealed for world building purposes could ve been included elsewhere. Spindle hard drive Also there were some typographical errors here and there like the misspelling of Eavera s name There seems to be some weird formatting too like the crossed out stuck on page 21 These aside I think the flashbacks could ve been formatted differently so it s clearer to the reader that we re reading a past event. Spindle hard drive Everything considered Spindleheart Trail of Shadow and Spool is a solid start to a new middle grade fantasy series The writing is perfect for its intended target audience I think they plus those who enjoy middle grade fantasies will enjoy this magical adventurous story Thank you so much Reedsy Discovery for providing me the ARC in exchange for an honest review My original review of this book can be found on Reedsy Discovery Spindleheart Trail of Shadow and Spool
