For curses are not so easily broken Once Upon a Dark OctoberI really enjoyed this book and the strong female characters throughout the story I ve not read many standalones and found it really satisfying as a complete story though I would be interested if led to future stories It gave me hocus pocus bedknobs and broomsticks vibes but adult and with just the right amount of spice I would definitely recommend this to friends though with sufficient trigger warnings for some of the content There was one element that I didn t expect One of my favourite things about this book was the descriptive writing that really made me feel immersed in the world I received an advance review copy for free.

And want to see it do well Once Upon a Dark October I was blessed with an advanced reader copy of OUaDO I love a good Vampire romance and this ticked all the boxes for me Right off the bat the author had me immersed in Dreadmist Harbor and I could feel the thick fog roll in and smell the sea spray in the air It was easy to see the world through Elspeth s eyes as she lived her last few hours as a mortal and as she began her immortal life I loved the world building of the two vampire nests and how their past conflicts have left them dealing with curses and problems with the mortal community around them The romantic storyline was well crafted and I loved the intimacy that the author created between Elspeth and Morrigan While the main s got their love story.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book I am leaving this review voluntarily I am 100 pages in or less and I am really so impressed with the writing the world building the pacing and the spice I love reading and I read a lot of books but books that are this well written are rare and truly feel like a treat Even the intimate scenes are poetically written like damn I will update as I read.
