A fun and engaging story that explains MS in a positive way that young children can understand MS is a mysterious disease with invisible yet debilitating symptoms The author has explained it effectively in the story and the back matter provides additional details I think children as young as three years old could understand this book English I love this story about a mom with MS This is a topic that we don t see in picture books but I think it will be welcomed by many moms who struggle with invisible disabilities or chronic illness The story is sweet funny and heart warming as the little girl sets out to prove her mom is not a superhero but ultimately concludes that she is English Great book to help kids understand not only MS but also chronic illnesses or invisible illnesses The text manages to keep things fun optimistic and kid friendly even while talking about what can be a tough topic Back matter will help with discussions and the playful illustrations will keep them engaged throughout English This story highlights the ways in which kids can be a big help both physically and emotionally to their adults Illustrations are fantastic and the book s back matter does a lovely job explaining exactly what multiple sclerosis is though I m confident this story s appeal will extend beyond the MS community English This book really resonates with me At first the MC thinks her mother is not a superhero because she doesn t have a cape or run fast Find Joy Acceptance Hope When a Parent Has a Chronic IllnessThis heartwarming story shares how a family adapts and navigates the struggles of having a mom with Multiple Sclerosis It delicately balances the challenges of MS with acceptance and a determination to never give up There is much joy in this book despite the difficult subject matter The author beautifully shows us how the bond between mother and child is strengthened through the struggles. The pages at the end provide excellent information on MS There are several activities for children to try that will give them a glimpse of what some of the symptoms are like to live with The illustrations are uplifting and a perfect match to the message of finding joy acceptance but also a reminder not for her child to worry about her and that they ll fight together English This story will help children gain empathy and understanding about struggles other people have and see ways they are superheroes As a mom with fibromyalgia I would have liked to have this book to read to my boys to help them understand our situation better I m glad this book is out in the world English
