This is an amazing Middle Grade book that covers all aspects of life from home to making friends at a new school to relationships and personal identity Clair moves to a new town to live with an aunt that she has never met after the death of her Grandma She struggles with calling this place home as she is worried her Aunt Cleo might not want to keep her She soon makes friends with humans and ghosts alike She is cautious about her secret of being able to see ghosts and helping them cross over this is a gift passed down to women of her mothers side of the family She has had trouble in the past when she confided her secret to others but eventually she learns to trust her new friends enough to share her secret I loved the ghosts we met throughout Clair s story She soon finds that a dark entity at Hamilton Hall is drawing ghosts to this town Her aunt is using this location for a Haunted House Halloween attraction so Clair visits with Cleo and meets Esmerelda a ghost around her own age who asks Clair to help the ghosts at the Hall She is inquisitive and playful showing up at Clair s house uninvited but she also has a dark side This book is made all the better with its amazing Manga style illustrations by Satra Thai in each chapter I loved the dynamic between all the characters especially Grace and Clair I particularly loved how the book ended with an opening for adventures for this group of friends Thank you to Elizabeth Duivenvoorde for the opportunity to read this advanced copy All opinions are my own Elizabeth Duivenvoorde received a free copy of this book I really enjoyed this book I love the characters I really related to Clair unfortunately I cannot see ghosts but I definitely was the strange girl in school The story carried a consistent pace it did not fall flat or feel slow at any point I loved all the characters in the group they re all so sweet I need a best friend like Grace Also Alaric trying to pretending to have a spy moment is so real My one of my favourite aspects of the book were the illustrations they were such a cute addition This book was very enjoyable and fast paced I was able to get though it in a day Thank you for sending me a copy I m so grateful 3 Elizabeth Duivenvoorde Tbh I finished this so fast I didn t want to put it down and read it in a single day I loved reading about Clair and how she copes in a new town and new friends after her grandmother passed away the illustrations and the writing style is amazing I would recommend this to any children or adults who love paranormal things.
