You can take the gods out of Olympus but can you take Olympus out of the gods Eros eternal teenager legendary god of love is experiencing an existential crisis and has concluded that his career as a bow and arrow wielding matchmaker is over It s time for a change of pace and residence When he and his mother the very beautiful and vain Aphrodite decide to leave Mount Olympus and settle in a small Texas town they find that leaving behind their divine powers and privileges is significantly harder than they expected None too happy about his daughter and grandson s desertion the proud promiscuous and slightly addle brained Zeus sends the hopeless pair of gods sets of instructions which provide a pathway to potential compromise Now if only the terms of the proposed agreement were marginally intelligible And if only Aphrodite could play by Earth s superpower free rules and commit to working on her impulsivity and rage issues And if only Eros could stop being so clumsy and almost getting his next door neighbors killed And if only their miniature accidently obtained pet angus cow Mrs Clutterbuck could keep her English accented mouth shut so she doesn t blow their cover The God Next Door is a witty weird and wonderful adventure that sparkles with the magic of Greek mythology while tipping its hat to the unmatched imagination and brilliance of The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy The God Next DoorEros has grown bored of forcing people to fall in love and wants a normal life in Texas Being his mother s favorite Aphrodite can t let him go alone So they settle into a suburb and try to fit in with humans Not using their powers is harder than expected Zeus isn t pleased two of his gods have left Olympus and sets terms for their stay on Earth Yet can Eros and Aphrodite do as Zeus demands or will they be yanked away and made to live the rest of their immortal years in boring Olympus This is a fun and silly YA urban fantasy with Greek gods The light hearted book doesn t take itself seriously and the images it creates are hilarious I can absolutely see Eros and Aphrodite getting bored of being gods of love after eons of making mortals fall in love I didn t get where it would take Aphrodite though but I m so glad it did The home Hephaestus made for them is wonderful I do wonder what other magical things it can do Miss Clutterbuck is my favorite Diana Tyler I really enjoyed this book So much laughter and cute moments it truly brought back my love for mythology Diana Tyler is an amazing writer and did such an amazing job playing out each character I hope there s to follow after this one Diana Tyler 4 stars for the characters Tyler does an incredible job writing the characters in a way that you can t help but love them The sass the wit the cluelessness it s great The plot seemed a little lost on me at times but the characters made up for it Diana Tyler This was so so so cute I felt all the emotions in the last 50 pages and there was so many moments of AWWWWWW It was comedic it was sweet it was easily one of the best Greek mythology themed books I ve ever read and I hope there s a follow up cuz Eros and Cassandra now have a mission that I need resolutions on Diana Tyler Amazing book I enjoy reading Diana s books as they are appropriate and entertaining This was a spin from her other books and I d say she hit the nail on the head with the comedy Diana Tyler
