A healthy dose of team spirit was just the medicine needed to clear the awkward air in Natsuki s friend group His second chance at youth is only looking up when Serika decides to get the band back together with a familiar face as their new drummer But a dark cloud appears on the horizon when whispers of Miori being a cheater begin to circulate through the school To exacerbate the situation Miori s been absent and no one can get in touch with her Can Natsuki put a lid on the rumor and protect his childhood friend Or will the truth shatter the bonds that he s so desperately tried to mend Haibara s Teenage New Game Volume 6 Haibara s Teenage New Game Honestly I didn t enjoy this as much as previous volumes First is the multiple points of view it felt as if there were PoV shifts than usual and that they lasted longer on average We entered that new underclassmen Yamano Saya I believe then Reita Miori Hoshimiya and possibly Uta Serika Or maybe not that last one but the others I think all had moments I don t like PoV shifts so I wish that was toned down. Haibara's Teenage New Game+ Volume 6 pdfescape I prefer a single focused narrative and single focused character in a linear structure It always takes time to re orient myself in a new character and learn who is talking and under what conditions since they often show flashbacks to different events and it s not immediately clear So I end up rereading the scene to make doubly sure when the event and thoughts are occurring. Haibara's Teenage New Game+ Volume 6park Next I am not a fan of how the romance was handled since Natsuki acknowledges his feelings for Miori being equal to his feelings for Hoshimiya but he doesn t follow through on conveying it I suspect the author still plans to have Natsuki and Miori as the true love final ship but if so I wish that was tackled in this volume and addressed directly since he s had underlying feelings since he was a child And if those two do not end up as the final ship then I think it s actually unsatisfying that he suddenly spurts these feelings for her that come out of nowhere I m also not a fan of the confess but stay friends angle nor did I like Reita s lie pretending to force Miori into a relationship The latter feels contrived and unnecessary since the rumor was dealt with and Hasegawa was the only issue She could ve been handled with a teacher or just talking with her Then the former aspect I just find a bit harder to swallow since most friendships struggle with romance injected into it in my opinion Not impossible but the way the series does it feels a bit overly simplistic and not that realistic. Haibara's Teenage New Game+ Volume 6o2 chemical Oh and I don t care for the meeting with the two old elementary school friends They ve been mentioned in passing before but rather than spend time with them I d rather see screentime with the established characters we know We didn t see much of Tatsu Yuino for example and some moments with them would be nice In general the cast has ballooned 6 friends Miori Serika Yamano Mei the bandmate and his girlfriend and probably characters that I m not recalling I don t care about these two side friends who were name dropped and I don t feel any strong emotional attachment to Miori and Natsuki reuniting I wish it was just a passing mention of a scene if at all As for the aspects I enjoyed I liked Natsuki getting sick and the scene with him at home with his sister and such I also enjoy some of the HS flirting dating between him and his GF or with Mei and his It was fun but cute And I also do still like some of Miori s scenes even if I think suicide is a bit overdramatic and darker than I like Overall not terrible but a disappointment compared to previous volumes I m not looking forward to the Reita drama next volume either since it feels a bit contrived I hope the author shows of just the dating side than the semi forced melodrama from this volume Kazuki Amamiya personally I think this book is one of the best in the series.
