There was insta love between innocent teenager Jody and supposedly hardened criminal Lilith That just didn t ring true Lilith was a huge mushball whenever Jody was around There were also some writing plot issues that really should have been picked up eg Lilith meets Jody and realises that she wasn t wearing a bra however when she takes Jody to her bed later the same night she removes Jody s bra there s mention of Jody potentially having trouble getting up stairs on her own when they re already at the top of the stairs and the elevator shenanigans when first meeting Santiago are very odd if Jody was in the elevator.

This says it can be read as a standalone book but I felt there was something missing just who the heck is Charlotte Adams and why is she investigating Jody If you look back you can see that Charlotte is the MC of book 1 of this series Maybe reading that first would help to make things clearer But this was the book required for a reading challenge so this is what I read This had a few problems generally Firstly how come she s suddenly lingering near the casino entrance lobby I didn t like the time jump from Lilith and Jody falling in love and declaring their undying love for each other and then suddenly it s a year later and presumably Jody is also a seasoned criminal like Lilith And yet Lilith still treats her as if she doesn t have a clue which would seem to be the case since Jody gets in the limo with Santiago Exactly what was her plan to get herself out of trouble The issue with Jody s parents is very untidily left and what on earth happened to Ricardo We re left to work that out on our own Then there s the whole 25 year sentence with the monthly visits whilst having an open relationship again it just didn t ring true at all. Jodisol If you overlook the multiple flaws with this book and just accept it as a vaguely enjoyable quick romp through a supposedly dark and seedy underworld I guess it s ok but not quality by any stretch of the imagination By contrast I suggest reading Blayne Cooper s wonderful A Dark Horse instead English
