This is another new author for me I did not read the first book so I didn t know what to expect from this book It was really hard for me to get into the story I almost did a DNF but I kept going hoping that I could get into it I wish the main MC s in the beginning Jase Lucas were a little bit different and their backgrounds explain better so you could understand why the MC s came across the way they did Jase has a self hate all kinds of baggage He is a grade A HOLE One bad decision causes him world of chaos and leads him to Lucas He starts to do a lot of thinking seeing the wrong He has a lot of work to do and the one main priority is Lucas He doesn t want to lose his football career and he really needs to change Lucas keeps things to himself and doesn t really share his personal life with anyone on the team He is a rookie and doesn t feel like others really need to know about his personal life or what happened He can t risk or do anything that would cost him his family.

He must make sure he stays out of trouble He wishes he remember that when he made a bad decision one night with Jase His football career is on the line so now he really needs to be better He has to deal with Mr Creepy and wishes that he could just ignore him He can t seem to stay away from Jase These guys need some serious therapy in my opinion They ve both had trauma in their lives and never really dealt with it They both don t want to lose their football career and they both just need to change It was really hard to connect with them but eventually I did when I was so far into the book I did like how the book ended and how everything played out in the end This is my honest review after requesting an ARC from GRR Kindle Edition Jase and Lucas 3 Stars This story had a lot of promise and most of it was good Honestly there were parts that gave me whiplash the writing style did not mesh well with how I m used to reading tbh With that being said.

Pump fake in nba 2k21 This one wasn t for me so no star rating Reasons it wasn t for me Pacing The POV switches between Jace and Lucas sometimes came several times during one event and then skipped over some time making some events go by very slowly and other times skipping over whole weeks Plot structure Both Lucas and Jace had individual storylines stopping them from being together but they kind of never coalesced properly and remained individual meaning that there was just a lot going on and a lot of minor characters that never really came together Lucas and Jace also didn t really become part of each other s lives and meet each other s families until the very end which is awkward when the families are really important to the plot There were also some plot cul de sacs like the fire in Lucas s apartment building which could have been a big deal for him but went nowhere and had no build up or Jace s leg injury which also went nowhere The relationship This is really a matter of taste but I found the relationship kind of excessively dramatic they were always fighting and making up and getting nowhere with each other Somewhere at 70% they had just hooked up again and then fought again and I actually put the book aside and said this is exhausting out loud I just prefer the kind of narrative where the couple works together to fight outside odds here they had both outside odds and each other to fight and it kind of made me root against them Style I found Jace really unlikeable which is not necessarily down to any specific characteristic but rather I think me just not enjoying the writing style for his internal monologue which was very heavily telling me all about his trauma rather than unravelling it slowly This was true for both characters we hear about their specific baggage in the first couple chapters in the internal monologue but it still takes the whole book for them to really talk about it which I just find frustrating as a reader.
