This poetry collection reads a little bit lika a short story You get to take part of the aftermath after a relationship and the beginning of another one I will not spoil the ending It s nicely written but I would of liked a little bit poetry The focus was on what happened than the art of words. Book Goodbye lovers I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily 202 I enjoy a bit of poetry occasionally It s a refreshing break from fiction even romance novels No matter the subject matter in the poems Shannon O Connor s book Goodbye Lovers is 93 poems depicting life after lovers the very real pain of breakups the lingering feelings that are often so hard to get rid of after a relationship ends Even if some of those relationships are toxic and bad Unfortunately the heart doesn t understand None of the poems have titles just numbers which I love Poems with titles are nice but sometimes after bleeding on a page a title of the crime scene just isn t going to work Numbers work for this collection Some of my favorite poems in this collection are Four which I feel accurately depict loss after breakup Eleven which is just God it went so hard and hits the reader right in the heart Thirty Five which is a moment of taking back oneself Those moments after a relationship is over when a person has to start taking small steps to take back their own identity Seventy Three which made me cry And Ninety Three Wow All of these were so wonderfully raw and sadly relatable that it s easy to get lost in each of these poems I loved this collection I want to keep it to reread in times when I need it I received an advanced copy of this book for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily 202
