Thank you for purchasing my book Glad to be Here I consider it an honor to share many of the struggles experiences and successes gained from my life journey from the challenges in my humble beginning to the amazing and unforgiving environment of flight operations onboard aircraft carriers The demanding day to day focus and commitment to team building and flying precision aviation as a Blue Angels pilot and flight leader And from the experiences on how to excel and adapt to the changing and often unforeseen requirements when working for two of America s most recognizable brands United Parcel Services UPS and The Coca Cola Company During my aviation career I was blessed to safely fly over 5000 hours in tactical fighter jets and achieve 888 landings onboard aircraft carriers about a third of them were at night I have flown over 300 airshows and practice airshows and flown a Blue Angels fighter jet inverted at 400 knots 300 feet above the ground almost 350 times I am here today not by accident but by the grace of GOD Now my desire is to give back and share the amazing journey I have been blessed to have I want to share how you can convert your struggles and difficulties in life into assets and benefits I have received many honors including being the first African American pilot to fly as a Blue Angels pilot being recognized as the 1989 Black Engineer of the Year led and flew as the first African American Commanding Officer and Flight Leader of the Blue Angels and many others Now the most rewarding honor I could receive is to be known for making a meaningful difference in the lives of others regardless of their race color or ethnicity.
