Even those who aren t normally drawn to spooky paranormal books like myself The character development was wonderful and made me feel invested in each character s story The Sage County setting felt like another character itself thanks to rich descriptions and the history that was woven throughout The pacing was perfect and kept me interested all the way through I am definitely looking forward to continuing Gemma s story in the books to come Haunt Book One This one was a mixed bag I get young adult and middle school books to read to my 13 year old daughter I thought she would love this book But for her.

Excellent YA Ghost StoryHaunt by Nichole Calabrese is an excellent ghost story for Young Adults This story follows Gemma who has a gift even though she doesn t see it this way She can communicate with ghosts that she calls Haunts She has to move away from her parents and live with her grandfather in a small town If she doesn t succeed there she will end up in a group home for troubled teens Well Sage County is full of Haunts and she does her best to avoid them But there s a mystery to solve and with the help of her new human friends and Haunts she sets out to solve a decades old murder I loved this book It had everything and that should come from a YA ghost story There s a scene in the beginning that sets the tone for the entire book I was hooked Highly recommend Haunt Book One What a fantastic YA paranormal novel I adored Haunt Gemma our main character has a secret she can see and speak with the dead that haunt the world around her Forever trapped in the places they died the dead are lonely and dangerous longing for attention desperate to be seen again. Haunted yards near me I loved Gemma She has some very real and genuine reactions as well a believable trauma from being able to see and speak with the dead Her Dad remarries and I wish I could say his reaction to Gemma was unbelievable but sometimes parents just fucking suck Luckily her Granddad is in her corner and is a better parent overall I m not usually the biggest fan of ghost based paranormal stories but Haunt is a 5 5. Haunted pub york I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily Haunt Book One I absolutely loved this YA paranormal mystery Gemma is such a relatable and well rounded character The author did really well in showing what a tight knit community in a small town may look like without it ever feeling cheesy Gemma s struggle with accepting her paranormal gift was depicted in a way that made me feel for her and at the same time hoping that she would find a way to come to terms with it What I appreciated is that in this story the way that the adults were in general supportive and understanding of the teens in this story while also holding them accountable The mystery aspect was really good and I definitely did not have any clue I really enjoyed it from beginning to end and look forward to reading the next book from the author and seeing what mysteries Gemma and her friends will solve next I received an ARC from the author My opinions are my own Haunt Book One Thank you to the author and publishers for the ARC of Haunt 01 08 2024 5This was so cute Haunt is a charming YA paranormal mystery about a girl who can see and communicate with haunts She and her friends attempt to uncover the forty year old mystery of a girl that disappeared only for her spirit to be stuck roaming the hallways of their school. Ebook hunter free books In my opinion the characters were great My favorites were a pair of ghosts from in history Their banter was perfect The main character was also relatable and easy to sympathize with The writing was smooth and it had a decent plotUnfortunately it started to get harder and harder to convince my daughter to sit and read it with me She said it was just too repetitive Which I could kind of see being an issue Once the main character starts going to her new school it does get a bit repetitive The book could probably have been tightened up and possibly trimmed back.

Haunt happy books I went into this with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised This was a great mix of relating a teens struggle of fitting in with the unrealism of ya know ghosts I loved a lot of the characters endearing and I loved the small town vibe.
Hauntology My main issue comes from the characterization of Gemma I found her to be inconsistent and was easily swayed from decisions she considered important She also seemed to be a different character then who she described herself as at the start of the book I just found her wishy washy back and forth frustrating I also didn t love that for some odd reason she called ghosts Haunts when they already have a name That s probably just me being uptight though Overall I d read another book in this series Haunt Book One I was very lucky to be sent an ARC by the author but these are still my honest thoughts in this review.
Hauntmysz Haunt is a clever and spooky book that is great for grades 7 10 I thought it was a very interesting take on the talking to ghosts trope and I m definitely looking forward to future installments The mystery is engaging and I only realized the puzzle pieces in plain sight after the reveal so I imagine readers very into sleuthing will have a fun time piecing it together The writing style is approachable and easy to read it sucks you right in And the cast of characters are unique especially in age and lovable I think everyone will find their favorites out of the eclectic side characters I highly recommend this book Haunt Book One
