The dragons of aeronothz full book Victor Borda s novel has been called a compelling story and beautifully written with rich vibrant characters He deftly explores bravery in both battle and love the bonds of friendship in the triangle of dragon riders dragons and gnomes and discards the tropes of what makes a healer and what makes a warrior The Dragons of Aeronoth The Dragons of Aeronoth Trilogy Book 1Overall I enjoyed this book the story characters the world and the bigger story that is brewing Its an easy read that kept me interested curious and enjoying the story and characters This is book one of a trilogy and I hope the next two come out quickly The end of book one fortunately does not feel like a huge cliffhanger but of a natural breaking point With a bit of a drama for good measure though Plot 7 10 Will s journey through his first year at Aeronoth are the main focus of the book but we also get snippets of other characters and storylines that are definitely setting up something bigger for the next books I enjoyed the pacing that kept things moving along while also building up the world The story was unique without being obvious While there might be some sinister and dark things to come in the next book this first one was an overall fun and lighthearted ride Characters 7 10 I enjoyed the characters especially Will s group of classmates friends They have a supportive and team spirit about them rather than trying to get ahead of each other And the dragons are sassy but also great and supportive friends not only to their riders but to other riders too We don t get whole lot of what the characters are thinking or feeling emotionally but for Will especially his confidence perspective and skill all grow as he finds his way back from a brutal injury to a strong honorable and talented warrior leader and friend Will and his dragon Keoria s relationship was my favorite They got the most page time together and Keoria really helps Will to grow Plus she s a badass dragon so of course we love her Thumbs up to Will Misty s budding romance and banter too One of my favorite things is that emotional connection with a character so I hope we get of what s going on in Will and other characters heads in the next books World building 8 10 I think this story had the right amount of worldbuilding to give us readers enough to understand the world without bogging down the pace of the plot For lack of a better term it was efficient It feels like a lot of common fantasy world things are assumed or drawn upon rather than rehashing on the page which I think is a great way to keep things moving There is this astral plane with some interesting things going on in the background that keeps things a bit mysterious and makes me curious how this part will play out over the next two books Theme 8 10 The main theme is definitely Will s coming of age journey but I think we also have the setup for an epic good vs evil showdown in the next books To a lessor extent as far as page time we see some found family for Will that is just heartwarming and fun Classic themes but done well with new story and characters POV 6 10 Personally I like being in a characters head to have that insight into their thoughts feelings and why s behind everything The 3rd person POV here is of a fly on the wall where we see and hear what goes on than listening in on the inner dialogue of the characters I think it was done well though and works in this book English Four stars if you ve read Dragonlance and Drizzt and think positive thoughts when you recall them Otherwise three stars Quite well written Though perhaps derivative there s enough novelty to keep you entertained English
