Homestead Bound booklet
Which works quite well for what he is trying to express Please know that this is not an instruction manual for building anything on a homestead There are no pictures or drawings of any of the contraptions that Dr Jordan describes No recipes for canning or preparing food in an environment one step above caveman existence This is an entertaining tale of a family deciding to uproot everything and make a new life for themselves in a completely new environment. Homestead boundfiller The stories and anecdotes flow well and sometimes it is difficult to fathom that this occurred over basically a one year period It is a testament to willpower.

A Good Debut BookHow do I know this is a debut book To be transparent I have known Dr Jordan for than 25 years and consider him one of my best friends even though we do not get to communicate often. Book Homestead bounding As for this work it is presented as of an oral history patience knowledge and probably most importantly flexibility and the ability to learn that this family displays It was a pleasure to read. Homestead boundless terp This reviewer gave this 5 stars as I read this for entertainment and getting a little philosophical lesson For those readers who get easily distracted by small editorial mistakes like any instead of any your experience may vary Just one suggestion for your next work hey since you wrote one why not another Please do not be afraid of paragraphs It was relatively easy to get accustomed to the very long paragraphs but separation of ideas would be nice. Homestead Bound books Even with the minor editorial mistakes I highly recommend this book And thank you Dr Jordan for allowing us to share in your adventures Homestead Bound One family s adventure building a new home homestead and a sustainable lifestyle in tune with nature
It had seemed like a good idea I mean what could go wrong Sell our house and move 113 miles west of the town that we had called home for over 14 years live in our 32 foot motorhome while we tried to figure out how to build a house Seemed like a great plan to me but I knew that my bride would never sign up for an extended camping adventure on the 10 acre property that we had purchased earlier in 2022 which is why I was so surprised elated even when she suggested it Yes this was all her idea and although it s an important detail in this story it s perhaps noteworthy that I never once reminded her of this fact.
Homestead boundfox studios My bride and I were married on a freezing cold day in Buffalo in January 1993 and for all three of those decades since I have wanted land But alas we had our daughter when I was an undergrad and our son while I was in grad school My career as a PhD analytical chemist moved us from the Buffalo NY area to Dayton OH to Hampton VA back to western NY and then back to Virginia where we landed back in Williamsburg and remained for nearly 14 years prior to selling our home in July 2022 Every time I would research land opportunities my bride would ask the same question how far away is it Unfortunately most of the properties that appealed to me were in western Virginia four hours or driving distance from our home in Williamsburg rendering my bride s consistent retort we ll never go there it s too far and what would we do there And she was right we would never go and so my search would end there and I d forget about getting land for a few months.
Homestead bounding box But one day I was searching for land using the Zillow map tool and did the one thing that ultimately changed our lives forever I moved the search window toward Williamsburg and scrolling through the listings I noted a picture of a river viewed from an overhead bluff I cycled through the dozen pictures a few times before calling for my bride to look I had found our land I contacted the listing agent and scheduled an appointment to see the property the next day It was January and the chilly rain in Williamsburg had changed to snow by the time we arrived at the property to meet our agent who was already there parked by the big tree in the four inches of snow I exited the truck with the sideways snow hitting me in the face and walked purposefully directly to the bluff where the picture had been taken I looked down upon a waterfall as the Bush River cascaded over the five foot bedrock shoal It was breathtaking The river formed a swimming hole as it turned 90 degrees to the right and then 90 degrees to the left below the bluff before continuing south along the property line to the bridge on the road that we had just crossed I became overwhelmed by the notion of this being our property our place I heard the crunchy footfalls of the agent behind me as I continued to take in the scene I turned to face him and said write it up We made an offer before we left the property and then submitted a higher offer about halfway home to accommodate my paranoia that we might not get it I had seen fresh footprints in the snow and thought it was likely that other buyers had been there that morning As we drove back home I felt like we were going the wrong way Our second offer which was less than the asking price was accepted We had our land.
