I have enjoyed the Saddleback Ridge series since the first book All the elements that make up a fun romance story are there small town interesting and sometimes quirky characters just enough angst to make it interesting a likable hero and heroine and of course a happily ever after But now Watson has added a touch of suspense that has made the story even better A new deputy sheriff and a woman in witness protection the makings of a great story that I m sure you will love I would recommend all of the books in the series but if you are new to the stories don t worry Watson does a great job at giving just enough background information that you won t feel like you are missing some of the storyline In fact when she includes characters from previous books she writes in such a way that you feel like you are catching up with old friends A Time to Trust is a good story and Milan Watson is a great author a match that I would highly recommend I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book A Time to Trust in Saddleback Ridge Elizabeth has lived in the lap of luxury for years as the significant other of a mafia Don in Chicago It s very different from her years growing up in an orphanage Discovering she is pregnant gives her the incentive to finally leave him Going to the police station in the middle of the night she gives enough information to put her ex away for a long time and hopefully do some real damage to his organization To keep her safe she is put into the witness protection program Now with the new name of Emily she is in the small town if Saddleback Ridge under the protection of the local Sheriff. Book A Time to trustage and living in his guest cottage She has always loved photography and now she has a chance to see if she can make a living doing it For the first time in years Emily feels safe and she hopes she and her baby will be able to have a good life far away from the mafia and life in Chicago She is under no illusions that she is being hunted by the mafia and if she is found her life will be forfeited Without knowing her story Liam the Sheriff s son and likely the next Sheriff makes an assumption about Emily that has him instantly on guard and resentful After his father sets him straight Liam acknowledges Emily s beauty at least to himself and is aware that he is attracted to her Over the coming days both see different sides of the other Her smiles and laughter enchant him and she discovers that underneath his growly intimidating exterior is a good guy who is concerned about his father Soon others notice the heat and flirting they have going on between them Liam sets his mind on courting her going slow and steady which is a departure from what he has done in the past when he was interested in a woman With one divorce behind him Liam is looking to settle down and have a family of his own Emily is very attracted to Liam but Emily s pregnancy and her life in hiding until she can testify against her ex means that she should avoid relationships which to start with she thought very naively she had found only to discover the horrifying truth Embroiled into the world of the mafia Emily knows she must escape especially when she discovers she is pregnant Placed into witsec our very own sheriff takes Emily into his home just when his son Ryan also comes home to learn to take over for his dad someday It s a wonderful read with fun and laughter but also suspense and danger and the author does a great job drawing us back into this incredible town Awesome read exciting and dramatic in places with characters that we know and love and an ending that leaves you with a smile A Time to Trust in Saddleback Ridge She didn t know that he was bad news until she was in too deep but an unexpected surprise gives her the courage to change her circumstances Enter Saddleback Ridge and its sheriff who will do everything to protect her but can he protect her from his son He has returned to his hometown to work as a deputy under his father and then eventually become sheriff and it seems that the first thing he will have to do is protect his father from a gold digger However when he learns all of her secrets it won t be his dad that needs protection.
