Zervant connexion Milo and Zervana s relationship is strained from page one After a series of heists and no doubt exhilarating space pirate escapades Milo wants out and Zervana wants This fragility along with Sanders ish prose helps to keep the pages turning. Zervana Science fictionmanai This is a book full of fun that doesn t swerve the darkness but also doesn t dwell on it As a stalwart grimdark fan this is not something I would usually read but I did enjoy my holiday into the lighter side of the universe none the less This story and its colourful characters scream to be adapted into a graphic novel Again Sanders style practically slaps a hook laced comic book frame around each scene and easily encourages you to move to the next As someone with grim tendencies and a penchant for gritty human based fantasy I found small issue with Milo s species specific shape changing abilities but this did not stop me enjoying the character and his I m too old for this shit narrative Zervana s idealistic spaced themed Robin hood was a good counterbalance and I really did enjoy the cast of characters they ran into on their fraught journey Brady has an eye for interesting character concepts even if he is a little heavy on the info and exposition dumps he does manage to make them slip down the throat like any good vaccitube space travel elixir that holds this galaxy story together one of Mr Sanders many fascinating and well thought out concepts that makes his world brim with heritage and back story support beams English I wrote this It s become increasingly easy to self publish but I still feel so lucky to have gotten to this point Writing a review on Goodreads is almost as exciting as holding the book in person Thank you for getting this far and checking out Zervana If you re interested in the plot you can order the book here English My August book was a second reading of Zervana which is admittedly my favorite book of the year so far of the few I ve read This is how you do science fiction world building the world is filled in as the story unfolds on a small scale Instead of building up the world from the outside in Brady builds it from the inside out and really makes you want to live in the world of Leviathan I ll definitely be a day 1 reader of all future entries English My proudest 4 star book review in Goodreads history as full disclosure this hearty novel by a debut author happens to have been written by one of my sons Zervana tells the tale of space pirates in a memorable story that creates characters and a world that begs for a sequel and video game adaptation I d love to play a game where I get to control the shape shifting Mesitos or take on the role of Macguffin my favorite character in the novel As Brady and my other sons would likely readily admit I tend to push my family and students in my classroom towards optimal performance so I won t award five stars for this debut That might come with a future novel Reading Zervana I wish I cared about the title character or the twins Stu and Steve I also unsuccessfully tried to see if I could figure out if Brady modeled the Ergo Twins after himself and his twin brother or myself and my twin brother Trust me when I predict that character development is something I deeply believe this 22 year old author will perfect with experience The rich imaginative world building and vivid adventures are front and center in Zervana and I invite all to experience it I feel that Brady was able to channel the best of his youthful memories of reading Dahl Rowling Baum Herbert Tolkien Stine and others into a debut novel that I hopes continues to motivate him to read write and imagine Long live Zervana Signed one proud and slightly biased fan English
