The siren and the dark tidebridge Now I m not a huge fan of mermaids in particular Maybe it was because they along with dolphins and sea turtles were shoved down my throat growing up in Florida but they just never did it for me Luckily Riella is a siren which is a bit different So right off the bat Evie has reeled me in with her use of a siren instead of a traditional mermaid Much like her first book in this interconnected standalone series this is a dark retelling of the classic Little Mermaid So we do have some of the main elements carry over Riella ends up with legs instead of a tail and she does lose her voice just not the one you think all thanks to an evil sorcerer Instead of being rescued by Prince Erik or whoever he is in the Disney movie original story after a bit of action no spoilers Riella ends up in the second worse place possible her sworn enemies pirate ship I d personally say the WORST place she could end up was stuck in a fishing trawlers net and then shipped off to be deep fried and battered at your local Long John Silver s fast food establishment but that s just my opinion The owners of said pirate ship The Dark Tide Clan have been her people s sworn enemies for quite a while but Rielle is forced to work together with Jarin the MMC Rielle and Jarin have all the fun tropes we love Forced proximityWitty BanterHe falls firstTouch her and dieEnemies to loversSpiceLike this is some full on Disney after Dark goodness right here The House of Mouse would not know what to do with themselves if they got ahold of this Anyways if you enjoy twists on classic fairytales sirens pirates magic steamy romance a strong willed MFC and cinnamon roll MMC I d highly recommend this book The Siren and the Dark Tide Fairytales Forever 2 I loved this fresh and imaginative adult twist on the Little Mermaid While this can be read as a standalone it is better to read it after the first book to see the connections and put together the world Evie Finn has created From the first book I knew the Dark One s son was going to be a pirate After a few chapters in The Siren and the Dark Tide Riella attempts to kill Jarin and I knew right away that he was the one As certain events happened I could tie them back to parallel events in the first book which was wild. Book the siren and the dark tides pdf In this spicy enemies to lovers fantasy romance the characters learn that a chosen fate is a gift Jarin is a feared Dark Tide pirate who definitely gave Captain Hook vibes over Eric vibes at times Riella is a siren who is kidnapped and given legs As she becomes one of the land walkers she hates she starts to experience feelings and thoughts she never thought were possible Bound together by a prophecy and shared interest Riella and Jarin set sea with intent to use each other for their own personal gains As time goes on both seem to realize they do not belong anywhere but seem to belong together Even when Riella s friends turn their back on her Jarin is there to support her and pick her back up Riella becomes a part of his world and consumes his thoughts He falls first and I loved watching their animosity turn to lust and then to respect and care. Book the siren and the dark tide book Riella is a strong FMC and I don t just mean physically she remains honorable and strives to do the right thing despite knowing the fated prophecy She could have walked away and left the situation at any point but she kept moving forward intent to save her friend She puts her differences and animosity to the side to work with Jarin as she knows he is the only one who can help her. The siren and the dark tideheart I needed a tissue towards the end as it was such a beautifully sad scene but this does end with a HEA Highly recommend this book if you love pirates sirens and magic On a side note Count Zemora is a hilarious submissive minor character who cracked me up with his dialogue I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily The Siren and the Dark Tide Fairytales Forever 2 45 The siren Riella has always been fascinated by humans After some sorcery she suddenly have legs instead of a tail and she s forced to explore the human world a lot closer than she ever intended Her fierce nature soon gets her into trouble and she has to get help from Jarin a pirate and the siren s worst enemy A retelling of The Little Mermaid Not one of my favorite fairytales but when there s lots of pirates I can t resist Sirens and pirates are sworn enemies so it s hardly strange that there s a lot of tension in the beginning When Riella learns about the humans she eventually realises that they re not that different She and Jarin are drawn to each other despite knowing it could only be temporary Peacocks said Jarin Tempestuous and vicious when provoked but very beautiful Reminds me of someone but I can t think who. The siren and the dark tideage The book is easy to read and I quickly fall for the characters Most parts are from Riella s POV but in some chapters we also get Jarin s If you like enemies to lovers magic and sorcery steamy romance fighting and witty dialogues you should pick this up This is the second book in the Fairytales Forever series but can be read as a stand alone I received an ARC through BookSirens and I m giving my honest review The Siren and the Dark Tide Fairytales Forever 2 The Siren and the Dark Tide is a spicy retelling of The Little Mermaid. Book the siren and the dark tide pdf The FMC Riella get it Ariel is a siren who is lured to the surface by an evil sorcerer mage Polinth She wakes up in Polinth s stronghold to find out that he turned her human gave her legs and took away her Voice with a capital V Not her speaking voice just her siren Voice She encounters another captive Seraphine who is an elf Seraphine helps Riella escape and Riella vows to return to save Seraphine During her escape Riella passes out but wakes up on a pirate ship and not just any pirate ship but a ship run by her people s sworn enemy The Dark Tide Clan It is on this ship that Riella meets the MMC Jarin The two end up making a deal that forces the sworn enemies to work together Adventure and romance ensue. How tidelands explores the myth of sirens Here is what I loved about this story Strong confident stabby FMC Enemies to lovers Banter Easy to read Palette cleanser from serious fantasyHere s what I didn t love I requested this ARC because it said it was a stand alone in a triology and it happens to be the second book in the triology I m starting to question if I should have read the first book because this book drops in characters doesn t give much backstory and then takes them out Serious lack of character development I have so many questions about so many characters If these characters were given dimension I think this would have been 5 stars for me. The siren and the dark tidegate pdf The second thing that bothered me is one of the themes It seems to center around Riella and her new human emotions However many times it just states that she has all these feelings and she doesn t know how to process them but VERY RARELY names the emotion or describes in detail what she s actually feeling I feel that this was a missed opportunity for the author to create moments where the reader is able to empathize and identify with Riella Thank you to Book Sirens and Evie Finn for the ARC which I received for free I will be reading the first book to see if it helps fill in the gaps and definitely want to read book 3 I am leaving this review completely voluntarily The Siren and the Dark Tide Fairytales Forever 2 Rating Spice First off I want to thank evie. Book the siren and the dark tide book Man what an adventure I read the first book of this series so that I know what I m getting in to but no one prepares me how good The Siren and the Dark Tide is I was giggling and kicking my feet while reading it I was so absorbed into the world building I simply forgot the real world The world building is amazing it s straight forward and it doesn t leave you questioning what is happening I love how this book is interconnected to the first book I was so happy that they mention Davron and Amelia I got a glimpse of what happened after they buried the body. The siren and the dark tide kindle book Speaking of characters Riella is so sassy but Jarin is so much sassier It kind of baffles me though that Reila just accepted her faith and work with humans she didn t even know But I think she s so positive of getting back to save the elf she did not care about the magic that happened to her Jarin is so respectful to Reila you can feel that he was smitten to her the moment he sees her First few chapters of exchange banters were amazing wish they kept that though. The siren and the dark tide book summary Overall I loved this book so much with all my heart I cannot wait for the book 3 I am excited to see what will happen The Siren and the Dark Tide Fairytales Forever 2
