Thirty four newly divorced and parenting two little girls Jan Weatherly is determined to make it on her own doing what she knows do it yourself home flipping With her BFF Pam Bacchus by her side she purchases their first fixer upper a cute Craftsman cottage with quick profit potential in rainy Rainier Washington With the first swing of her claw hammer however Jan pries back faux cedar paneling and reveals a nude snow haired corpse floating in a makeshift aquarium If that didn t fully sour their dreams in a plume of formaldehyde tinged air Sergeant Daniels arrives and bans the women from the crime scene Will they continue sleuthing despite Daniels s warnings or simply wait for their dreams of financial independence to fall apart Corpse in the Craftsman Cottage A Flippin Good Mystery Book 1 Thoughts This was a different type of cozy mystery First of all the main characters Janny and Pam are best friends who are both divorced their exes are also best friends with kids They used to work for their exes in their construction company so now they re going out on their own and renovating and flipping houses Unfortunately while working on their first one they discover a dead body Banned from the house by the police they go about trying to figure out how they re going to survive with no money coming in and no idea how long it s going to be until they can get back to work so they can sell the house The characters are realistic in that they re women with kids and real problems But one of the best characters was the dog Moxie a hairless Chinese crested dog who isn t pretty but who is protective of Janny her mistress I may not be a dog person but even this cutie made me go awwww Meanwhile their exes are doing things that make the women get even angry at them asking Janny s girls to keep secrets new truck new house new boat new girlfriend Janny finds her backbone and lets hers know exactly how she feels about this And he agrees And then there s the cute Detective Daniel s Real people Real problems. EBook Corpse in the Craftsman cottage cheese Disclosure of Material I received a final and or advanced reader copy of this book with the hope that I will leave my unbiased opinion I was not required to leave a review positive or otherwise and my opinions are just that My Opinions I am posting this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission s 16 CFR Part 255 Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising 1509254382 House Flipper MysteryThis new mystery centers around two female friends newly divorced as they juggle starting and trying to finish their new house flipping business Between working on the house picking up their children they find a dead body in the house The story is well written simple mystery but is it s filled with too much picking up the kids feeding the kids and dropping off the kids and complaining about their x husbands for my taste Generally if the story has children in it I avoid it I gave this one a chance and found myself skim reading to just finish it It wasn t for me 1509254382 Renovation hilarity makes flipping a cottage an adventurePam and Jan are best friends and divorced moms who are in business together renovating and flipping houses Their timetables for the craftsman cottage fall apart when a decades old corpse is found behind the wall of one of the closets I loved Jan and Pam s determination to make a good life for their kids after their divorces The story will have you laughing out loud cheering on the best friend duo and hoping for the happy ever after when the handsome single police sergeant comes on the scene Add in some curious kids and an old hairless and nearly toothless dog and you have a delightful romp Can t wait for the next book in this series Highly recommended 1509254382 It seems to be slightly crazy to suggest that a murder mystery or indeed any story with a dead body as a major plot point could not only be entertaining but also almost comfortable But some books are just like finally getting to sit down after a long day at work Corpse in the Craftsman Cottage is one such book I ve never read it before in fact this is my first book by this author but there was something just so familiar and comforting about it. Corpse in the Craftsman cottageloaves Jan and Pam are best friends who have both been cheated on by their husbands and are now trying to make their way in the world Things would be going well with a house to renovate and the skills to do it if it weren t for the discovery of a body behind the wall. The corpse had a familiar face book I loved both the mystery side of this book and the friendship between the two women I m not sure what either of them saw in their ex husbands but I can see why they are friends There s also the hint of a future romance in this book which just added to the whole mix for me I didn t completely solve the mystery this time but that doesn t matter For me it s about the story than proving how clever I am This was a great read and I d love to read from Jan and Pam 1509254382
