Like a lotus we too have the ability to rise from the mud bloom out of the darkness and radiate into the world Meet Aria a walking contradiction Compassionate Dangerous Beautiful Deadly Raised in Imperium an elite underground community of deadly operatives she is a trained lethal weapon one of the best of her kind Her only problem She doesn t remember any of it With Ethan s help she tries to regain her memories but she is shocked by the brutality of her old life and when people start to mysteriously disappear she learns there is a much darker side to Imperium Knowing she must trust no one she still finds herself drawn to Ethan who seems to both captivate and threaten her Aria doesn t believe in fate but she does know this She has been born and raised on one path but her destiny is leading her down another towards rebellion and when the innocent lives of those she loves are lost she will dedicate her heart body and soul to ensure she gets her revenge A Lotus in the DarkThis book was honestly one of the best books I ve read literally felt like I was there It was one of those you just don t want to put down you get to the end of a chapter and something insane happens so you just have to keep reading Would definitely recommend Very well written A Lotus in the Dark Stunning A Lotus in the Dark is an urban fantasy Katie s second novel and the first in a duology It follows the FMC as she tries to regain her memories following a car accident and step by step uncovers the secrets of the underground organisation she was raised in Katie mentions that the idea behind the book is that we learn about this world alongside the FMC and works as an introduction to fantasy making it an easy read for those non fantasy readers She does this beautifully The story is cleverly thought out the characters likeable and the world building is in depth yet not overcomplicated We are thrown into the story from the get go action and excitement carrying us from start to end We have our fair share of badass women a sprinkling of romance and plenty of truly heart wrenching moments Masterman leaves us on a wicked cliffhanger leaving us desperate for I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am eagerly awaiting the release of the second Don t miss out on this gorgeous novel A Lotus in the Dark I loved it It was exciting funny fast paced with loads of twists One of my favourite parts was how likeable the characters are you can feel their layers and that they are whole people which helped me care about what happened to them I was invested The world building is excellent and doesn t take away from the plot it s go go go from beginning til end I was never bored I can t wait for the next one in this series I m dying to know what happens A Lotus in the Dark I thoroughly enjoyed this one and I am in dire need of book two A lotus in the dark is a thrilling fast paced and exciting fantasy book It is full of action packed scenes fantastic world building and super likeable characters For someone who is still pretty new to the fantasy genre I found it super easy to follow along I finished in two sittings and found it difficult to put the book down I was on the edge of my seat so many times throughout and those plot twists had me gasping I really liked our FMC Aria and really loved the romance between her and Ethan I liked that it was subtle alongside the main plotline.
