A Good Spicy Non Toxic Romance Read I was telling my best friend that I wanted to read a spicy romance story that had no toxicity between the two leads and this book really fulfilled my request It was an easy read but enjoyable I really liked Xo and Barry s dynamic Their chemistry really made me root for them as a couple It came off very natural The spicy scenes were well written All of the characters were so likable and the biggest conflict was Barry and Xo just getting in their own heads but they always quickly resolved their issues immediately Perhaps my biggest gripe will be the typos There were several typos throughout however it wasn t enough to make me stop reading In fact the book was so enjoyable I moved past it Overall I rate this book a 4 5 stars Some Like It Spicy City Girls Some Like It Spicy City Girls by Linda Verji is a sweet and humorous friends to lovers story Ms Verji is an extremely versatile author writing both romantic suspense stories and light hearted romantic comedy However my all time favorite book is More Than Friends the quintessential friends to lovers story Now Some Like It Spicy is edging into that niche Returning to the states from France Barry and Xolani end up in same row of seats From their initial encounter readers can discern that Barry is just as nice as he is handsome and that the beautiful Xolani is much capable of establishing boundaries The pair bond on the flight over and unfortunately part ways before they can exchange contact information Imagine their surprise when they learn that they work for the same automotive company Even though they are tremendously attracted to each other they decide to keep their interactions purely platonic but for very different reasons instead they will JUST be friends Will these increasingly loving friends be able to just remain friends or will the spark that everyone else can see overtake them Barry is one of the most beautifully rendered heroes a nice guy in all areas and I loved how tender and supportive of him Xolani is Ms Vergi always fills her books with amazing secondary characters. Some like it spicypunk Xolani s family was amazing Such a lovely story on all levels I am looking forward to the next book in the series Some Like It Spicy City Girls I wanted to like it The storyline is great but I just couldn t vibe with the writing I can t even put my finger on it Xo is a beautiful black goddess Tall built like a brick house and educated to boot Also super witty Barry is a pretty boy white professional who albeit pretty lacks the douchery that s typically associated They meet by chance on a flight from Paris where Xolani steps in to translate in french for him For him it was literally love at first sight For Xo I believe the same but her fears made her come to that realization much later They like each other but a relationship How could that work when they ve both been hurt and have certain hangups Eventually they speak to the attraction by being FWB It quickly turns into I enjoyed the banter between them and their friend group Again I m not sure what it is but this book was lacking something for me It could just be the writing style However still worth the read Some Like It Spicy City Girls Fire and Laugh out loud momentsXolani and Barry are the MFC and MMC in Some Like it Spicy City Girls They met on a return flight from Paris They are seat mates While in flight they watched movies talked laugh and caught the feelsThen in the hustle and bustle to depart the plane they fell to get each others contact information Read this book to see what happened I Linda Verji s books Some Like It Spicy City Girls Detroit I have no idea why the author wanted the location to be Detroit clearly the only thing she knows is they make cars there No mention of the riverfront Detroit food scene the suburbs where the corporate car companies actually are it was weird also spoilt and smelt just odd word choices and it took away from the story The characters were decent and this could ve been 4 if the tone wasn t so weird Some Like It Spicy City Girls When two strangers Xolani Moore and Barry Hale meet on an airplane sparks fly They re each other s fantasy come to life However they ve both been burnt by love before and they decide that they re better as friends But their chemistry is undeniable What follows is an ambiguous game of friendship and flirting that tests the limits of their self control Soon they re in too deep Their supposedly platonic relationship has snowballed into something steamier something lustful Friendship isn t enough for them any They want no they need This could end with a happily ever after Or it could be a recipe for complete disaster Some Like It Spicy City Girls Don t let the goofy yt boy name fool you Barry is my new book boyfriend And that s all I m going to say about it Can t wait to see what mess the rest of the City Girls find themselves in I loved how real the female friendships felt but that s just it there were only 2 In a book with the word spicy quite literally written in the title i expected It was the perfect length though if you re looking for a quick read and with the friends with benefits trope you usually get that the two love interests like each other but the male ends up fucking up really bad only to realize that he loves the female and trying to make up for it That wasn t the case here thank goodness Overall 3.
