With young Bee having the last word I received a copy of this book as a gift through BookSprout and this is my honest and voluntary review Baiting the Bear The Noble Norsemen 4 This is book four in a series but is able to be read as a stand a lone book We visit back again to the village from another story where Dunne runs to with her daughter to her sister Dunne s cruel and abusive husband has died and relief is all she feels. Baiting the bearmanor She wants her freedom as she had a bad childhood and an unwanted bad marriage She wants to raise her daughter alone and be happy and free Here in the village she meets Bjorn who has loved Dunne since he first saw her at her sister s wedding four years before But the as Dunne does not want a relationship and he is younger then her she pushes him away But as they keep meeting the attraction grows and her daughter just loves Bjorn Dunne is fighting in her mind about this and the fact he is younger than her and Bjorn is fighting to prove he is a man and his love is real and will always be there They face many trails and misunderstandings on their journey to love. Loved Bear and DunneI loved this series A wonderful forage into Norse historical reading I loved how determined Bear was in making Dunne his I also enjoyed how real Dunne was and how she had to work through her past traumas to get to the point that she was able to accept Bear I also enjoyed the side characters and fell in love with little Bee Baiting the Bear The Noble Norsemen 4 Baiting the Bear is a heartwarming medieval romance that defies age conventions Marconato weaves a tender tale of love between a shy young man and an older woman with a child exploring themes of self doubt societal expectations and the transformative power of love The author s delicate handling of the characters emotional journey is touching but the physical scenes sizzle As the couple gain the courage to pursue their hearts desire I found myself rooting for this unconventional pair With its period setting and universal emotions it was a delightful read Baiting the Bear The Noble Norsemen 4 This is the first book I have read by this author and found that although she captured the scenes with interesting descriptions of the era the modern day language was somewhat incongruous That disappointed me For instance when characters greeted one another in the year 1041 it was with a HI The plot was as modern as it was ancient in that the attraction between a mature woman and a young man is fraught with difficulties Dunne has come out of a terrible marriage one where she was demeaned and treated badly and vows never to become another man s vassal The young good looking Bj rn can have any young woman he wants but with his sights set on Dunne she struggles with the age difference and the vow that she took when she became a widow It is only when Bj rn risks his life on her behalf that she begins to understand the depths of his feelings for her The novel is a standalone and comes to a good conclusion if you don t like miscommunication this book is not for you Regardless the plot had a good pace and I personally find it very delicious when the MMC is haunted by the FMC so I had the time of my life Additionally heartfelt confessions beautiful than ever and against all odds widowed Now a grown man Bj rn jumps at the chance to finally try to woo her After being married to a man she despised Dunne is determined to live her life free of impositions and watch her daughter grow Her meeting with a young magnetic but utterly unsuitable Norseman will test her resolve to the limits How will Bj rn convince the woman of his dreams that what they could have is worth some sacrifice What will it take for Dunne to accept that with the right man marriage could be than a prison Baiting the Bear The Noble Norsemen 4 I think I became a writer the day I decided to write a very bad shamefully close to the real story version of White Fang when aged nine or ten As for the Middle Ages I fell in love with it at school during a history lesson then Kevin Costner s Robin Hood put its final seal on it all A girl of twelve then I never recovered.
