Sara has finally finished college and now returning to live with her sister who she knows will mother her and definitely supervise her relationships The only problem is she s only interested in one person and he s out of bounds Plus she now knows he s a player not just with his career but he s constantly pictured with different women on his arm Benz or Maverick as most people know him needs somewhere to hideout the paps are hounding him everywhere Since his career ending accident they re just camped out in front of his home or the stadium Social media is blowing up with constant rumours about him most untrue but nobody seems to care except him Do they not realise its his life not just just make believe When his best friend offers her sofa he thinks his prayers have been answered Until he finds outbher younger sister is also staying there he s had a crush on her since her prom night Now he d be living in the same space and she s out of bounds he promised his best friend he d stay away from her sister This is a great read easy going and gripping at the same time Can these two maintain their distance will this really be the end of his career Can they help each other Or is it bound to backfire and him lose everything This is the first in a new series which if this is anything to go by will be amazing 295 Excellent best friend s sister s sports romance He owes her kiss for a long time she is her best friend s little sister off limits And now both Benz and Sara stay at Kenz s and both do it intentionally And nobody can stop them now Or could Loved characters their sense of humor good heart and how they overcome complications and trust issues because of his new job that lead to misunderstandings and distancing Loved story line and new Benz with his priorities Fun and exciting reading. Playing the maverick books online 5 stars rounded up to 4 stars Playing the Maverick is the first book in Southern Mavericks Rugby League by Kenna Shaw Reed I love reading Aussie based romances by Aussie authors and though I don t follow rugby League or Union grew up in an AFL obsessed state but now live in a NRL obsessed state I was all up for a sports themed romance This is at it s heart a brother s best friend best friend s sister type of romance One where the two clueless parties have had some level of feelings for each other for years And now that they are adults and life is changing at least for our hero things are gearing up to change between the two of them Maverick that s his sporting nickname had a career ending injury that has forced him to retire from his playing career So he heads back to Sydney and ends up being room mates with his best friend s sister to lick his wounds and stay out of the media Maverick is attracted to Sara but is gutted when he is forced to keep his new career prospect a secret The billionaire that hired him wants nothing left to chance Sara is a something of a wallflower and while building her own career and striving to be independent Maverick and her feelings for him start to consume her Sara is quite patient with Maverick when it comes to his new job even though their romantic connection is new and fragile The problem is does Sara have the patience to be around for the big reveal and just how long Maverick can fob off his new but secret girlfriend The reason for my rating comes down to two things that rubbed me the wrong way that comes down to my personal preferences as a reader There were a few words here and there were the Americanised jargon was used over what we use in Australia e. The mavericks in concert books g the one that bugged me the most was the use of the word prom which we call a school formal or a formal I get it it s for a broad audience appeal but I am something of a pedant who prefers authors keeping to local jargon even if I have to Google things But since this is the first book by Kenna Shaw Reed that I ve read I wasn t sure what to expect in terms of style The other thing one that annoyed me the most was just how long our clueless hero was going radio silent without repercussions at the time It felt a lot like a miscommunication storyline which I am also not a fan of. Playing the maverick ebook download They are navigating the change in their relationship while trying to keep it secret from Kenz knowing that she will 100% not approve Benz is trying to get his life back on track and accepts his dream job COO for a brand new team The Southern Mavericks The only problem with this is that it needs to be kept on the extreme downlow with Benz signing an NDA This means that all he can tell Sara and Kenz is that he has a new job A very demanding new job Long hours at the office sleeping on the couch in his office numerous broken dates and cancelled plans has Sara questioning Benz s feelings for her Sara is extremely forgiving of Benz s behaviour How could she not be She has loved him for years Even Kenz is beginning to worry about what Benz is up to and if his job is above board and legal Sara is in a slump She believes her relationship with Benz is over and she is spiraling She loses her job and asks Kenz to reach out to some of her contacts to help her find work Sara finally lands her dream job working for Lloyd McMillan Except she has no idea that this is the same man Benz also works for until she sees him at the launch of the new Rugby League team And because Benz has pretty much been ghosting Sara he has no idea she landed this job Things come to a head after the event with Sara being brutally honest with Benz It hurt my heart seeing her so lost sad and heartbroken But she is fierce and she is strong and she decides to lay it all on the table for him and then she walks away well she jumps out of his car while it s stopped and runs away but that just adds drama and emphasis Benz needs to win her back he can t lose her He was oblivious to Sara s feelings and the thoughts she was having about their relationship He thought the daily texts the little gifts he had delivered and his impromptu booty call meant they were ok and their relationship was safe Benz s attitude really annoyed me and it made me so angry that he didn t seem to care about Sara s feelings.
