Was it good Hell yes it was Was it scary Nope it was gore it was splatter it was dark it was funny It was a hell of a demonic bitch job Hell yes it was I did not get what I was expecting but I still enjoyed it immensely One word of advice for authors if you put content warnings in your books this is how it s done for readers read the preface and take the content warnings to heart They are true all of them Very much so It is probably not for the faint of heart it really has it s very dark moments nothing for people with a weak stomach the gore and splatter gets sometimes very graphic and most certainly nothing for anyone who does like to call themself pious English I loved this book I admit I m a bit hesitant sometimes when it comes to men writing women MCs but I can assure you that those concerns are unfounded in everything I ve read from Erickson. I m particularly fond of any tale where women are able to exact revenge for the unspeakable things done to them and hot damn does this scratch that itch Pay very special attention to the content warnings because there s a lot of heavy subject matter English two teenage girls accidentally summon three hot demon bitches to come to their aid and frankly the timing of that shit could not be luckier as the girls are currently in dire straits and having their asses consummately handed to them by a mob of homicidal evangelical maniacs who fancy themselves soldiers for the lord one of which the girls had been planning on revenge murdering that very night thankfully with the aid of their unholy megababe saviors and the powers of hell our protags are able to turn things around and the hunters become the hunted lmao this was GLORIOUSLY UNHINGED vicious and viscous and violent and virulent and gruesome and goopy and legitimately all around nasty i am always a slut for a bloody vengeance story but i will encourage you to PLEASE read the list of content warnings that the author provides in the beginning of the book there s a LOT of extreme shit going on including which i would imagine will be the most upsetting potential trigger for people and was absolutely deeply distressing for me personally very brutal very graphic sexual assault though many aspects of the story were absurd to the point of hilarity i could continuously feel the fury and anguish rolling off of the protags in a very authentic way i laughed i gagged i cheered i felt nauseatedly disturbed def recommend if that sounds like a good time to you 4 5 English
