A year spent in horrorh stories
This short horror collection is for everyone who has said I wish I could read but I never have the time. Book a year spent in horror stories It offers 365 micro fictions Most of them are no longer than 2 or 3 sentences They are the perfect length to read in all the little in between moments of the day while you are waiting on other things you can read one a day or several in one day but I suggest waiting a little between readings I will suggest not reading than one or two at once though The only con I had is that while I was reading several stories per sitting they did start to seem a bit repetitive to me No fault of the author there is only so much you can do in two sentences after all Instead of the tiny tales having chapter titles they are headed by the prompt word that inspired them which made me want to start writing my own small horrors with simple prompts too Paperback I was new to the term micro fiction but I was than on board I have followed Radar DeBoard on Twitter for over a year now so I ve seen his posts with these micro fictions for a while Needless to say when he announced he was rounding them up to put them in a book I couldn t wait to jump in A Year Spent in Horror is a wild ride It is a unique horror experience taking you through stories that range from magic monsters paranormal and body horror There is nothing left untouchedin this collection These shorts are set up as prompt words so Radar takes a word and then creates a story around that word Some of these words become increasingly difficult to shape a whole story around but he does it with finesse. A year spent in horror book series I cannot speak enough to the brain power behind these stories Thereare moments of humor and moments of Oh no that happen and you ll find yourself unable to stop until you ve read them all Radar takes us through a fully wrapped story in only a few lines leaving us in clear understanding and oftentimes in awe or ew. A Year Spent in Horror horrorhound Steve and I recently talked to Radar to promote this book and learn about it and it was such a great conversation The thought process that goes into writing these stories and the constraints to keeping them this short was really cool to talk about and you can hear us talk about it in depth on the channel Paperback 3. A year spent in horror book summary 5 I ve never heard of micro fiction before this arc and this was a fun read There s 365 short stories 3 4 sentences max Lots of fun topics here are my top 3 1 Prompt Native She finally spoke her native tongue flowing from her mouth and into his ears The cosmic words filled his mind expanding and pushing his brain against his skull In a matter of seconds his head popped like a balloon painting the landscape in crimson. A year spent in horrore book review 2 Prompt Carpet The carpet fibers moved with incredible speed wrapping themselves up Tabitha s legs Before she could react she was taken to the ground where the fibers absorbed her essence leaving nothing behind. A century of horror book uk 3 Prompt Parrotfish The accidental killing of a parrotfish would set off a bloody feud between two families After years of escalating acts it would end with the skinning of the patriarch of one family while members of the other watched with glee. A year spent in horror book review This was a fun read and there were a lot fun stories in here that would be fun as novella If you don t have a lot of time to read buy you need some quick horror go pick this book up Paperback In this very short story collection the author has written one work of micro fiction every day for a year a bold experiment that is quite original and generally entertaining but does become somewhat repetitive at times There are only so many gnarled hands one can read about in one collection after all Although on than one occasion I was reaching for the dictionary to seek out the meaning of some prompts as well as wondering how he could think of so many names for his characters I did feel there was a good variety of topics and genres in the collection Having said that and not having read any of this author s other books based on this collection I get the impression that cosmic horror must be one of his main focuses as there are many stories of that bent in here that are quite well written though not necessarily in my realm of genre interest However the non cosmic works such as Feminism Sweet Oleander and Psychoanalysis were some of my standouts from the collection. Book a year spent in horror stories Although I would love to have seen a prologue from the author explaining where his prompts came from as some of them where quite unique and some long bows were drawn in the incorporation of them at times I did enjoy reading this work overall I felt that the collection whilst occasionally patchy due to the sheer volume of the pieces did provide a good idea of his interests and skills and I certainly admired his dedication and perseverance in putting something like this together 3. A year spent in horrord book 5 stars Paperback This book is filled with fast read short story prompts and they are awesome You can t beat a short story and then make it horror Yes please I sat down and read this in one night because it was such a fun and easy read It reminds me of the ABC s of d3ath If you love short stories and feeling unsettled grab this book Paperback
