This was an exceptional book Kept me on the edge ready to move through the pages The places Emersyn takes you No spoilers but makes you realize it s a small small world 368 Evil is a seed and if given the right circumstances and ingredients evil will grow and prosper I imagine evil growing in someone s soul Depending on the encouragement it can either learn right from wrong or it can fester and decide it doesn t matter This was one dark and twisted book but with that said it was written in such a way that it was an unputdownable read The pacing was excellent I loved the dual perspectives and multiple timelines The characters were well developed and fully fleshed out and while the subject matter may be triggering for some I appreciated how Park didn t make it overly graphic I can t even fathom how someone came up with this plot but Park did it so well There were some excellent quotes about evil that will stay with me and you can see the care that Park puts into her writing This is my second book by this author and it totally blew me away I loved how Park intertwined the lives of the main characters and that alternate ending blew my mind Like I m still thinking about it I highly recommended this book and I m so thankful the Emersyn included me on her ARC Team 368 Another great read from Emersyn I always enjoy her characters even the not so pleasant ones in this book A good enticing storyline and overall a good read Forever one of my favourite indie authors 368 Emersyn is an excellent writer and this book is no exception It s a dark and disturbing character driven novel The writing is superb and this story will haunt me for a while 368 The story was great and thrilling It follows a young woman Lisa thoughout her relationship and life with Tony a stranger that came into her live There is also a plot involvingaother woman Jolene All done perfectly 368 The trusting lamb seals her fate when she lies to the hungry wolf dressed in sheep s clothing Escaping her poisoned childhood Lisa Darling focuses on creating a life she can be proud of After years of solitude the rule following good girl yearns for love and companionship Just as her hard work is about to pay off Lisa steps out of her control zone and flirts with a good looking stranger She tells one harmless lie that changes the course of her life Always the optimist Lisa plays the role of the devoted wife to her husband the well respected pastor in their small town From the outside her marriage looks ideal But away from the church and behind the closed doors of the grand home lives a monster Roots of His EvilWhat do we have to do to get Good Reads to do 1 2 stars Because this book is a 4 1 2 star easily for me I feel like I m a tough person to please and anything 4 or higher is amazing Pretend there is an invisible moral line Step over it once or twice and forgiveness can still be achieved by showing true regret However after a while if that person still chooses to cross the line the line doesn t matter any Stepping over it again proves that there is no respect for the relationship that is being walked over Many characters in this book cross the lines repeatedly While others have to sit there and watch or choose to leave Together these characters create an unforgettable tale of evil and the power to escape This book was an exciting and informative prequel to Emersyn Park s He Loves Me She Loves Me Not I highly recommend reading that book prior to Roots of His Evil as this book provides a detailed background of the many twisted stories What I love most about this book is the theme of forgiveness of even some of the most heinous actions Forgiveness is not weakness nor does it create excuses to justify evil Forgiveness occurs when only courage and strength win out helping those wronged to keep moving forward Emersyn creates characters that make it difficult to forgive and others who you can t help but admire for their bravery and calming demeanor If you enjoy books that push boundaries and have all the twists then this story is for you 368 I loved every second of this book To see an author be able to tie these characters together in such an insane way chef s kiss After reading Emersyn s debut novel He Loves Me She Loves Me Not I really hoped there d be a follow up down the road so we could find out if Pastor Tony would ever meet his fate I m so glad that we get the chance to see of him in this book Executed perfectly Emersyn really put lots of thought and emotion into this book The way she describes moments and scenes makes the readers feel like they are right there in the storyline I found myself laughing anxious sad and shocked throughout the entire story It s not often that an author can really have that effect on their readers Favorite characters Lisa Howard and Kitty 368 Omgeeed this is the kind of book you read in a day Why do I have to work and sleep So many jaw dropping moments that keep you thinking through each twist and turn I absolutely love how Emersyn keeps you guessing throughout the whole book and then weaves storylines together and builds connections with her characters Oh so good I WANT Thank you for letting me part of your ARC team Now get going on the next one 368 There wasn t a serving spoon large enough to help me devour this book Emersyn Park delivered the total package with this one I laughed I cried My heart raced and I picked my jaw up off the floor at least three times I read this book in one day Every character made me long for details The story the interwoven relationships and the detailed perspectives of each character made me turn page after page Emersyn kept me hanging on until the VERY last sentence This one will stick with me for a while You can do this Lisa I m proud of you And she did 368 Okay netflix I found your next mini series Wow I love Park s writing and every book of hers I read I swear its my favorite until the next This book blew my mind The twists the characterization and the incredible darkness was just chef s kiss This is almost 400 pages and I read it in one sitting I could not get enough This is not for the faint of heart There is a lot of heavy topics in this and you must know that before going in Again this is dark but also extremely realistic The situations abuse and even the mixed media felt like it could really be happening like next door to you I loved how everything connected at the end the alternate ending and how truly vivid the characters were Jo was by far my favorite She was such a tough sassy and strong lady This is by far my favorite of hers and I am proud to be part of your team Thank you Emersyn 368
