a fantastic read.

Turkey Without the Trimmings: Working a Holiday Resort – My StoryI love Turkey and the time I spent there and really looked forward to reading Paul s book While his adventures were interesting the quality of the book made reading strenuous at best Run on sentences paragraphs that just went on and on little to no punctuation pages crammed with words and misused words made reading a slog Add to that his wandering off to things that had nothing to do with the main story and frankly the book was a complete disappointment 257 Amazing book Could not put it down 257 The author deserves much credit for shedding a rare light on the dark underbelly of Turkish tourism including the scams love rats and giving tourists advice for shop restaurant commissions. My favourite line was I m going to walk through a minefield of eggshells The story opens with the author meeting his one true love a beautiful Turkish hotel receptionist But this self confessed lad a heavy drinker cannabis and cocaine user quickly dumps her and embarks on a mission to have sex with as many women as possible. Needless to say there s virtually nothing about the rich history heritage and culture of Turkey amidst endless descriptions of rows with restaurant bosses drag acts makes you feel like you re experiencing the eye opening shocking and hilarious moments along with the author K Stoddart Who would have thought when going through Dalaman airport on my first holiday to Turkey in 1997 that three years later I would be getting marched out of there by armed guards after spending five days in a Turkish jail and getting deported. That s me Paul Slaney your typical British stereotypical holidaymaker who went on a family holiday to Marmaris fell in love with a Turkish lady and six months later gave up everything in the UK and went back to Turkey not as a holidaymaker but as a resort worker. On the surface Turkey is a beautiful laid back country where nothing is too much trouble for its tourists However under the surface lies a Pandora s box which people rarely see unless of course they work there Holidaying in Turkey and working there are totally different things and I was not only going to open that box I was going to jump into it feet first. Join me while I take you through my rollercoaster journey where I struggled with many things including Turkish life and culture As I take you through my years working in a Turkish holiday resort you too can take a look inside Pandora s box Fortunately you don t need to open it I did that for you So rest easy you don t have to make the mistakes I made particularly those made in the first couple of years Turkey Without the Trimmings Working a Holiday Resort My Story.

: But the book is poorly written and edited with many errors and typos, For example manor instead of manner genebet cenabet washing after sex Attaturk Ataturk jist gist ramadam ramazan pigeon pidgin English phased fazed: The book serves as a warning to people planning to holiday in Turkey especially Marmaris and particularly to women who fantasise about having a fling with a Turkish waiter
