A Coup in Manila By Terence Gallagher

The main events are historically accurate and the reader will find themselves immersed in a world where vast economic inequalities condition the interactions of people of very different backgrounds A Coup in ManilaI didn t know about the attempted coup in 1989 as I was too young to be paying attention or too self absorbed as a teen I found this book fascinating The descriptions of the poverty and class divisions in the Philippines were harsh but accurate The story itself had well developed characters and was evenly paced so you get a good idea of what is going on and actual details about the coup as it happened The characters themselves were likeable where they were supposed to be and equally abhorrent as needed Quick and well researched glimpse into a point in history that I was curious about. I received a copy from NetGalley for an honest review A Coup in Manila
