EBook No angel reese To me as someone who loves Daniel May s super smutty mind break books No Angel was a little weird More of an ode to spiders than something smutty To be clear I really really really don t like spiders I don t like reading about them visualizing them or in any way thinking about them I know they are somehow important to the ecosystem blah blah I can acknowledge there is a sort of beauty in them but I at all costs want that dubious beauty far away from me The spider imagery was a lot for me but I will say as an arachnophobe it wasn t triggering Just weird The book as a whole was quite weird to me I m a very literal person and I spent the whole time reading it wondering if I was missing something important I used to get the exact same feeling when reading anything particularly indecipherable in my statistics textbooks It s hard for me to rate a book that wasn t to my taste I have a lot of feelings about it Overall I was decidedly unenthusiastic about finishing it Spiders aside I thought the italicized words were overdone I started keeping track of them wondering if there was some kind of hidden message if there was I didn t find one because why were there so many of them The entire set up was weird few details are given to explain Enzo and Hill s backstories so I felt like I wasn t able to get a good sense of who the characters were Daniel May has done the same in other books and it didn t bother me but this time I wanted to feel like I could understand anything about this story Why spend so much time exploring Hill s appearance but leave virtually all of it unexplained Why was Enzo running What sort of life did he lead before he decided to to risk it all Why is Hill so reckless Anyway to wrap up this rambling I think I went in expecting this book to be smutty and for me it was not There was a decent amount of sex but none of it was sexy I spent the whole time feeling like I was too stupid to understand some profound point I m not sure what I missed and I m happy to just forget about this I hope other people get it because someone should, EBook No angel number 5 starsAn addled pulpy fever dream melodrama that starts nowhere and ends nowhere and honestly could have been a lot horny.
