storyline Grant is a wealthy business who has just discovered he has a six year old son He leaves his business in capable hands buys an RV and sets out to spend some time with his son and his grandmother who has helped to raise him He takes on the job of ranch and keeps his wealth a secret Unfortunately incidents of vandalism start just as he arrives in town and he quickly becomes a suspect Bella is a police officer currently working in Rocky ridge but is hopeful she will soon be back in Billings with a job as a detective She is investigating the vandalism and though she has her doubts about his capabilities as a father she has ruled Grant out as a suspect He can t be in two places at once and she had eyes on him when the last incident occurred Soon Bella and Grant are working together to find the vandals and get the chance to see a different side of each other a side they like very much They develop a connection and unexpected feelings for each other though trust doesn t come easy for either of them It soon becomes clear the the vandalism is meant to frame Grant then drive him away As the incidents escalate can Grant and his son remain safe Will there be a future for Grant Bella and his son or will she be left behind I loved the growing connection between Grant and his son as well as the one that develops between Grant and Bella Neither have had much luck when it comes to love and relationships but fate has brought them together for a reason They struggle to let go of the past have to deal with secrets and trust issues and finally acknowledge the feelings that have deepened unexpectedly It all makes for captivating reading This fascinating book has my recommendation 210 Bella Whitfield she was from Billings Montana and had come here as a favor to her captain When she went back to Billings she would be learning how to be a detective Presently she was a Deputy with the Rocky Ridge Police Department Grant Shaw has a little boy named Nick and he was 6 years old He did not know about Nick until his mother Dee had got killed in a car accident and then he was notified he had a son She had left a letter for him saying that Nick was his son and she was sorry she had kept Nick from him all of these years Grant had lived in Nashville and had made it big in his tech company and was a billionaire at this point He had moved here to Rocky Ridge in a new motor home so that Nick would be closer to his grandmother Charlotte and other people who had known Dee his mother At one time when they were married had thought he knew Dee well but I guess not since she lied to the lawyer about being pregnant during the divorce and had kept Nick from him Grant hoped and prayed that Charlotte would not fight him for custody of Nick Grant loved Nick from the moment he heard he had a son He was the best kid ever he did act up at times and you might also Grand finds out he has a son who is 6 after his ex passes away So he decides to move to Rockey Ridge to get to know his son better while letting him stay in his grandmother s life Well it seems that strange things start happening on the ranch after Grant arrives and of course they want to blame Grant Bella is a deputy in Rocky Ridge and just happens to catch Grant s son unsupervised in the park doing something he should not so they get off on the wrong foot She gets a call out to the ranch so she lets Nick the son ride with her Seems that something happens while she is there and the person thought since they saw Nick that Grant was there he puts his very lucrative business on hold buys an RV and travels to Rocky Ridge Montana so they can be with his dead ex wife s mother The boy is close to her so it makes sense to transition as easily as possible into their new life But things get dicey in town when Bella observes parenting behavior that triggers her into taking action A young boy is basically allowed to run wild in town Who knows what kind of trouble he could be getting into and it looks like his father is unconcerned with what was going on Bella grew up a bit untethered and it s a poke at her heart when she sees a young soul being neglected As she gets involved in an official manner she makes an enemy Truthfully neither of them like each other very much and it might take them just about forever to get along But in spite of the tension between them there s definite attraction And when sabotage seems to be a problem at Sagebrush Bella and Grant seem to be like enemies than anything else because everything is a big mess And the fire between them ignites at the oddest moments But as they work together Grant doesn t seem to be the jerk he originally presented as and he s actually a good father Bella can relax about that concern As they work on the mystery of
