Humour and adventure I hope this is the start of a series as I didn t want to leave this story Honestly such a good sci fi story 1916668674 Where to even begin This book took me on an emotional journey and did quite a lot of damage. Book Sektor 470 area Especially with the flashback scenes from Sa da s childhood A lot of the events that happened during that time reminded me of the stories my grandmother used to tell of how things used to be during her own childhood. Book Sektor 470 area I do believe Sa da has some growing up to do though as she did jump into a lot of dangerous situations with minimal planning and for that I wanted to grab her and give her a big hard shake.

Disability and racism While difficult topics are explored the light humour between Saida and Rodok balanced the heaviness of the story I m surprised that this is a sci fi debut considering the immersive world and and sharp prose we are presented It s worth noting that even though this is a sci fi book it is very easy to read and I would definitely recommend to anyone who is new to the genre and would like something which isn t overwhelming I would also recommend if you would like to go on an adventure with a girl and her android friend to hunt down criminals in the galaxy This book really took me by surprise but I loved it 1916668674 Zoom into the galaxy with Sektor 47.

A rigorous indictment of colonialism and settler colonialism imperialism and all its horrific consequences But even than that it is a romp of an adventure peppered with wry humour and at its heart it is a quest in a galaxy ripe for revolution Saida is a heroic character but she is not a goody two shoes Rodok her android companion is lovable and endearing Saida s quest is based on love and as she journeys across the galaxy she meets friends rogues and enemies A scifi from Pakistan which is relatable and fun 1916668674 Sektor 47 is a fast paced sci fi that you won t be able to put down It s told in 2 timelines the first is planet Sektor 47 when our MC Saida was young and then the current timeline when Saida is a bounty hunter travelling through different planets on a mission With her trusty friend and robot named Roddok she must find the medallion that will let her return home This is an easy read that has you immersed in a fun universe It does tackle some harder emotional topics when we are in the past timeline But this book is filled with action because honestly woman use her brain a little bit I loved the element Roshun and how it seems to glow not to mention the brutal way some of the bad guys wearing roshun armour got dealt with was just That said I think my absolute favourite character in the whole thing was Rodok Mac does become a close second and I have a feeling he might become a good supporting secondary character in book 2 which I m really looking forward to reading now Especially because of the spot where the book ended 1916668674 This was so fun and heartwarming We follow two timelines where Saida and her uncle are harassed by colonisers vs Saida s travels in space with her android friend Rodok who are on a mission to save her uncle I was surprised to find an exploration of human relationships a sparkling space adventure that mixes heart humor and some serious themes This gem of a novel stars Saida and her quirky android sidekick Rodok tackling colonial brutality and disability with surprising lightness and lots of laughs. Sektor 47 book N Jehangir for these delightful characters The tale zips between two timelines the tough as nails past in Sektor 47 where Saida and her Uncle Abbas face relentless harassment from colonizers and the thrill a minute present where Saida and Rodok are on a wild quest to rescue Abbas The past chapters are a tough read with all their injustices but the present day escapades Pure adrenaline and fun While the world building could be richer the book s Space Western vibe keeps the pace lively and the mood high It s an exhilarating ride through the cosmos The ending did feel a bit rushed to me But these are minor bumps in an otherwise stellar journey Sektor 47 is a blast and I can t wait to see what N. Sector 47 pincode N Jehangir dreams up next I received this ARC from NetGalley for my honest review 1916668674 What is a promise worth To Sa da it is worth her life Sa da Abbas is a bounty hunter surviving in a galaxy controlled by the sinister Grand Design She has spent a decade in pursuit of a single goal rescuing her beloved Uncle Abbas from their colonised home planet of Sektor 47 Joining her in her mission is her android partner Rodok who was an instrumental part in her own escape from Sektor 47 Their quest takes them on a journey to find an elusive medallion a key to safe passage back to their home planet But even as they make progress the Grand Design stands in their way and it s not the only obstacle Is Sa da s promise to her uncle worth taking up arms against the greatest power in the galaxy A hugely promising debut which demonstrates both a flair for plotting and for thoughtful detailed world building Jonathan Barnes author N N Jehangir is a brilliant new voice in the rich and pluralistic intersection of Pakistani writing in English and in Speculative fiction This is a writer to watch Awais Khan Bestselling Author Founder of The Writing Institute In Sektor 47 N. Sektor 47 pdf24 N Jehangir writes with flair and his prose is precision sharp Immersive compelling and thought provoking this marks the entry of a talented new voice in the SFF genre Unmissable 1916668674 This stupendous novel tells the story of Sa da who for reasons not revealed to us was raised by her saint of an uncle Abbas Sa da is from a planet called Sektor 47 by the empire and Meraj by the locals that s been colonised by the Grand Design also not explained and whose enforcers Redcloaks oversee the exploitative mining of illuminite or Roshun in the local language which has special properties But little Sa da gets into one unavoidable scrape after another involving the Redcloaks until one night something terrible happens that separates her and Uncle Abbas and that leads her to leave the planet for her safety The only reason little Sa da can do this at all is someone she met underground after one of her scrapes a robot android she calls Rodok. Book Sektor 47 brand One of the things that makes this novel stupendous is the world or rather universe building Even without giving the reader much lore to draw on Jehangir creates a very believable structure a universe that works a implacable enemy various oppressed peoples and a hero s journey as Sa da strives to return to her home planet and to Uncle Abbas. Sektor 47 book I love robots and androids always and anyway but I think Rodok is one of the best robot android characters I ve encountered in SF and yes possibly better even than Murderbot Sa da is exactly the kind of woman you would expect a young girl who encountered the brutality of colonialism to grow up into This novel is a heartwarming coming of age story that explores the impact of colonialism details a wonderful human android friendship and that has lots of adventure space stations cool spaceships and even a space battle. Sector 47d chandigarh Many thanks to The Book Guild and to NetGalley for access to a DRC 1916668674 Sektor 47 is a gem It s a fast paced space adventure combined with a very sweet and emotional story about human relationships It features very heavy topics such as the brutality of colonialism and disability but it s also quite light as its main characters Sa da and Rodok are hilarious and quirky. Sector 47d chandigarh This novel is told in two timelines the past in Sektor 47 where Sa da lives with Uncle Abbas and they are routinely harassed and assaulted by the colonizers and the present where Sa da is traveling space with her android Rodok looking for a way to save Uncle Abbas from Sektor 47 The bits in Sektor 47 are brutally sad and frustrating to read the inequality harassment racism etcetera are just difficult to read but Uncle Abbas kindness is heartwarming And the present is fast paced and FUN. Book Sektor 47 meters I truly loved this book I tend to say this all the time but I m a character focused reader and I truly enjoyed spending time with Sa da and Rodok The bits with Uncle Abbas were slightly melodramatic at times but very enjoyable nonetheless This being said I LOVE Rodok Love love love Rodok I tend to hate AI and I ve only liked Bero from Velocity Weapon by Megan E O Keefe but dang Rodok was just so caring funny and snarky Well done N. Sektor 47 pdf World building was good but not as detailed as I would have liked This was pretty much a light fast paced space adventure with many moving pieces and I am not sure I fully understood the little of the world we got to see i. Book Sektor 47 brand why was the emblem the only way to get back to Meraj Sektor 47 This led to a few deus ex machina situations and some other bits where I just had to nod my head and assume things made sense. Sector 74a gurgaon And lastly the reasons why I m not giving this five starts are 1 because of the Redcoats and all the bad guys One of my least favorite tropes is when a book has good characters that are very good and bad characters that are very bad I like my shades of gray But this book had flawed good characters and just plain evil bad guys which sort of didn t work for me And 2 I found the ending very rushed and unsatisfying So in short light fast paced space adventure with a heavy focus on colonialism and all its cruelty and brutality It was fun highly recommend it ARC received for free this didn t impact my rating or review 1916668674 This was such a great sci fi read Dune meets The Mandalorian in this fun brutal story following a girl bounty hunter and her robot planet hopping to save her uncle This was so intriguing from the beginning and I loved the time hopping looking back through her memories It gave this story so much depth 1916668674 What a fantastic debut novel this is aboslutely a hidden gem and I hope readers discover it and fall in love with this world as I have I was drawn in immediately by the fast paced writing style and the space cowboy vibes but the depth of emotions themes of colonialism and racism and the trauma of family sacrifice against all odds kept me hooked I loved the dynamic between Saida and Rodok and the quiet but overt loyalty they both showed towards one another throughout the book especially as you learn about Saida s background and what drives her determination to rescue her uncle no matter how much time has passed The flashbacks flashforwards was a really interesting way to tell the story and served as a view into Saida as she was developing who she has become and also gave us glimpses into who she may still be changing into as the story progresses I was sad to see the story end and I can t wait to read book two Thank you NetGalley and The Book Guild for a free ARC in exchange for an honest review 1916668674
