The Gutsy Girls Who Led India By Timeless Biographies Series Ilina Singh

The Gutsy Girls Who Led IndiaI m glad I got to read this book It s mainly written for children and teenagers I m grateful that I got to know so many brave women who made an impact with their leadership but it looks like the book is not really well researched Historical biographical writers really need to research the subject thoroughly and write the clear facts 96 We have read and heard many stories about male martyrs who lost their lives fighting for freedom for India However in this fight for freedom there were many females who played important role. These ladies fought not only for freedom of the country but for their state or town While reading this book I was applaud to know that modern India is far backward then ancient India when it comes to female. Those ladies in ancient era were taught everything from riding a horse to swaying swords economics and polictics After reading I came to know that how there were these gutsy females who opposed the first rulers of India when it all started Infact these ladies were defeated by their deceitful male partners rather than the rulers Well India has been dependent on patriarchy and this is what has led to rulers on the country The book is written for teenagers and so the language is lucid and there are no difficult words The book is divided into 9 categories that are related with the story of Gutsy ladies After each story there are activities and worksheet that would help in getting an insight into yourself Each story is different and the key point about the person are highlighted very well. Overall an amazing book to read not only for teenagers but also for adults The feminist in me was really happy to see so many achievements made by females of golden era 96 I don t think Indian authors do not do enough research when they write historical nonfiction books as simple as the state of origin of the important historical figures Rani Gaidinlui belonged to the Naga community doesn t mean that she was from Nagaland Yes it s important to write correctly with a lot of research and not feed wrong information to the young readers I was happy that at least one personality from North Eastern region of the country gets featured in the book However I was really disappointed. If you think that we should accept such things and the book s purpose is to encourage young girls to be brave with inaccurate facts and false information I do not think it should be done as there are numerous better books I can recommend you from around the world with similar themes 96
