I was excited to read this book at first since it s set in beautiful Wales an area I ve visited many times and have fond memories of However as I got into the story it didn t develop the way I had hoped The interactions between the characters felt awkward and the dialogue was stilted making it challenging to get through The format of the book resembling a theater script made it difficult to follow at times and I had to re read paragraphs to stay engaged While I eventually got used to it it s not my preferred style and I can see how it might not appeal to everyone. David and Marie along with their three children make up a lovely family However at times they seem a little too perfect the flawless family with perfect children who seemingly lack any wants which can make them feel less relatable. To the author s credit the topic is interesting However some readers especially those who are impatient might struggle to finish the book due to certain issues that disrupt the flow of the reading experience It s a fast paced book and a relatively quick read but it could benefit from further development to truly make it a great read. I rate A Woman s Love and Protection 3 out of 5 stars 94 A quick good read of Love Sacrifice and SurvivalOverall a good read I found the format a bit different at first but soon got used to it It combines elements of suspense family drama and personal sacrifice in a way that keeps you invested from start to finish The blend of love secrecy and survival makes it a good story that does resonate on multiple levels I enjoyed the journey and recommend it to those looking for a gripping and heartfelt narrative 94 Every time I come across a new author I am always curious to discover what he or she has to offer Lady Donna Thomas has a unique writing voice drawing you into her story right from the beginning I think she has put much of herself into her main character Marie She even describes Marie has having the heart of a wolf soul of a dragon and I think this is a beautiful way to describe a woman I am not one for spoilers so I will let you discover the story for yourself All I can say is that the book was an excellent read showing how fragile happiness might be and at the same time how far people are willing to go in order to protect it The writing style is simple yet poignant and I love how the main character resembles an actual human being with a flawed past worries and all Read it you will love it I received a free copy of this book from Rowanvale Books but the opinion I posted is my own and not biased in any way 94 This was described as a fantasy adventure book which is not what I got The format of this book was odd It read like a script rather than a novel and was mainly just pages of awkward and unrealistic dialogue For example there s a scene where Marie and her colleague Craig are working together and despite it stating that Craig has a certain sense of humour Marie is used to he proceeds to be crude and misogynistic for around two pages And it s just dialogue When there were descriptions of events locations etc I found them to be very boring and jarring From one paragraph to the next we re suddenly months ahead Certain parts were explained where they didn t need to be for example the karate class Having to explain why Justin bowed to her and so on I also didn t find the scene believable with Seren I d love to know what that swear is in Welsh because as a Welsh speaker I don t think there is a commonly known swear for that especially for a non Welsh speaker to then know it And making a child do 50 push ups I found this to be a very confusing and boring read Thank you Rowanvale Books for my free copy of the book The review is my honest opinion 94 A beautiful Welsh family that is the image of happiness the doting dad a hard working mum and three playful and spirited children They have inside jokes and are immensely connected overall a passionate and well rounded family That is until the incident that leads to tragedy and a new normal that no one can comprehend. This quick read is suspenseful from the get go filled with rescue missions hostages and the vulnerability of balancing service and family life The writing style is simplistic which is paralleled with immersive graphic images splashed across some pages The plot was a little too fast paced for me I thoroughly enjoyed each individual character and their dynamic together I would ve liked time to get to know them intimately before all the chaos However because of its short yet fast paced plot it will be the perfect book to get you out of a reading slump, Thank you to Rowanvale Books for providing me with a copy of this book I have left my review voluntarily 94
