G Flitcher is unlike any other crime horror novel I have read Filled with horror darkness suspense and mystery it is the kind of story that starts off strong and keeps up the pace until the end Told from the point of view of different people whose paths all converge later in the story this novel tells the story of one family s sad tale of a murderous child and how they try to live some kind of new normal after the threat has seemingly passed Theirs is a story that becomes the stuff of urban legend mystery and myth You cannot hide from the monster within Nor the one that follows So speaks the one who is dubbed monster Murderer And mystery This Book Such a stunning novel It gripped me from the very beginning and would not let go It s such a powerful story and it lingered in my head long after I stopped reading The monster of this story may have been the author s fictional creation but she terrified me so that it sometimes felt as if she would come charging through the room with a knife or that she stared at me with her red eyes through the window as I read. A murder happens in the Tygrah family and the father goes missing The surviving mother and daughter are encouraged to flee which they do The house then becomes abandoned for five long years with the father supposedly seen in different areas of the town Meanwhile two true crime podcasters who are sisters somehow become involved in a murder investigation but is it tied to the abandoned house This novel certainly gets off to a powerful start I am grateful we get the background on what happened to the Tygrah family on that fateful night although we don t get all the details We don t know how that ends and who murdered who That is one mystery hanging over readers heads as they plow through this book. The story is told from the point of view of a variety of characters Rosario who is a detective the podcast sisters and Paolo an employee at a hotel where certain things pieces of the puzzle have occurred Their stories all include sightings of the missing father the missing daughter or a mysterious kidnapper wandering the streets. But the big thing lurking in the pages of this magnificent beast is a brooch Specifically a black rose brooch worn by many characters including the murderous Chelsea Tygrah But What Does This Brooch Mean This is the question I kept asking after discovering so many characters wearing it It s always going back to that brooch It has significance And with this book having the title black rose in it I knew that brooch was important and was being worn for a reason So as I kept reading the next chapter and then the next I was holding my breath Hoping to learn what the significance of the brooch was Apparently it is called the Black Rose brooch I found out what the black rose symbolism meant later in the story. I liked how the portrayal of Sasha Chelsea s mother is not what it seems Some people were thinking Poor Sasha the mother of a murderous child She must feel so terrible And some people were thinking How could she NOT have control of her own child What a horrible mother Then there was a huge plot twist and it made me all the eager to keep reading the story This novel is definitely scary Spooky and creepy But there are also funny parts in it too probably to add some comic relief after the scary parts It is part true crime and part mystery Yes the actions in the story are horrific and I felt for the young victims who endured terrible suffering at the hands of a psychotic killer thinking she was doing everyone a favor but it was mostly like watching a true crime documentary in my head as I read it The ending was just so stunning and powerful This was such a good book to read and I heartily recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading supernatural horror mysteries or crime stories Black Rose Cocoon Black Rose Cocoon by A.
