Onix 2020 It s these parts though the recollection of single political anecdotes of the time that feel very all over the place and definitely lack a sense of chronological order or system Having these broader global happenings sprinkled in with the very magnified closer looks at the individual stories made the book pull out and move into a single story again often than it needed to For me a few chapters dedicated to the chronological global happenings separate from the seven individuals would have done a better and cleaner job here. Nissan qashqai 2020 n tec That being said I still enjoyed my time with this book as much as one can enjoy reliving such a dreadful time to begin with Because aside from a broad recollection of such terrible memories the book also gives voice to the lesser talked about sides of the pandemic The huge discrepancy of mortality in social and cultural minorities especially of POC compared to the white majority The huge mental impact it had on individuals living and or being alone at the time socially distanced from friends and family And the huge impact it had and has on kids and teenagers to this day most of them still suffering from worse grades lost chances and ruined childhoods compared to the generations before It is therefore an important time capsule 2020 One that is not absolutely perfect in its execution but will be an important piece of history down the line Social Sciences Excellent This is the book I have been waiting for Or one of them at least It was tricky during the pandemic to order my thoughts efficiently about what was going on amid all the politicking and speculation and disinformation and the emotion of our own struggles and losses At the time I would say I m looking forward to a hindsight book in a few years time with some proper stand back analysis of this thing we are living This book is a really good start for that It s America based but takes in the global scene It looks at all the obvious questions about what constituted an effective response to the virus the reasons when things went awry questions about inequality of experience etc. Epub 2020 etc It s all a bit mood dampening Though in the midst of it there are some heartwarming accounts of the best of human nature not just the awful worst I liked the way the overviews and statistics were interspersed with detailed individual narratives that grounded the experience in real human lives I appreciated the foresight that went into making this complex research project happen Thank you Social Sciences
