Love's a disaster contemporary lyrics Caleb s character was the best one and he was still a bit dense Sadie was just awful and reading her parts were so cringy that I wanted to go in the book and shake some sense into her She did somewhat redeem herself at the end but the ending was a little predictable I guess predictable endings are a thing with romance novels as I ve noticed This is supposed to be a second chance romance beachy read but I found myself putting it down so many times and actually forcing myself to read it This definitely was not a quick read to me and it was just blah One thing I did appreciate was the realistic look at addiction That was the one part of the book I enjoyed which is bad because this is supposed to be a ROMANCE novel It s available on Kindle Unlimited so I suggest reading it there or getting this book from your local library because this was a no for me Love s a Disaster A second chance romance Caleb Monroe and Sadie Warren meet have coffee and declare themselves a couple That s me paraphrasing the first part of the story It s not a bad read but not my cup of tea as the story dances back and forth with the last and the present And sometimes seems as if the writer wrote an outline and forgot to switch back to the correct first person or second person POV I was waiting for the moment when it was discovered that the 11 year old Scarlet really was their love child and not the result of a random hookup That would have pivoted the story As it was the couple still find their way back to each other despite all the family drama Caleb also presents as a highly functioning neurodivergent persona in the story but the author lets that part of the story dangle unsuccessfully Love s a Disaster A second chance romance Such a sweet fun book The characters felt like people I knew both back as a young adult and now as a middle aged one and rang true The romance was adorable and the complications that kept them apart felt real not cheesy or forced I am absolutely not a romance reader but I really enjoyed this book Love s a Disaster A second chance romance This wonderful book made me feel weirdly seen and weirdly cliche Like my early naughts emo heart was normal but also way less unique and original that I thought Sadie and Caleb were somehow a blend of my spirit and also a weird blend of me and my husband I was an emo artsy writer with a good splash of nerdy band books etc My husband was a gamer with a big nerdy cool vibe He was who he was and at that point wasn t changing That s how I read Caleb he d changed before and wasn t doing it again. Love's a disasterthon While we managed to make our first chance stick otherwise their relationship reminded me a lot of ours cute witty banter sweet romance with some deep emotional baggage A different set but we ve all got some The setting also reminded me of home being set in Florida which is similar in a lot of ways to south Louisiana. This disaster loves you But Caleb and Sadie as relatable as they were aren t the only brilliant characters in this story Each one is hand crafted to make this a gorgeous hilarious rom com perfect for the emo goth punk kids of the early 2000s You know who you are The ones who got drunk at house parties listening to Panic and Death Can and the Postal Service The ones who painstakingly chose outfits with the right balance of black and white or black with a pop of color Who drew on black eyeliner not always on our eyes. Love's a disasterthon If you re looking for a healthy dose of nostalgia this is an excellent read Even the children in this one were especially delightful Often the children are overlooked or not explored but these children are real people with motives and personalities that I d love to see grow This is the second music related book I ve read lately and I knew the songs on the other one they were classic old school songs But this was the soundtrack of my own personal coming of age story so when I m having feelings it s what I cue up If you re a former emo scene punk kid or similar or if you re still one in practice or at heart you ll love this book and the nostalgia it brings on Heck you might love it even if you just loved one of us This is a sweet romcom with a hint of Parent Trap around it and a whole lotta early naughts culture wrapped up in a modern day love story Music lovers will also get a kick out of the musical references and there s something for all the nerd lovers and Renaissance Fair enthusiasts as well Content Warnings Adult Situations Adult Language Infidelity Drug Abuse Alcohol Abuse Pregnancy Rehab Domestic Abuse Parental Loss Child Loss SI Child Harm Child Abandonment Love s a Disaster A second chance romance I enjoyed this second chance at love story It had all of the things I enjoy in a love story characters I felt a connection with situations that made me smile and laugh and an ending that left me satisfied It is a story of family and life and finding a way to talk about things even the hard things and having the courage to love Sadie and Caleb felt like real people with real problems that were relatable Sadie s parents and their insta famous peacock made me laugh and they added to the story This is a story for readers that enjoy a little quirkiness in their romance.
