Thumbsucker By Kat Giordano
Thumbsucker dvd
While this collection is a slight improvement from Kat s previous work Thumbsucker is still very cringeworthy at best There seems to be a lack of maturity throughout Thumbsucker and the pieces that incapsulate the theme of attention seeking will make your eyeballs squirm and not in a good way It s now very clear why the official book release occurred during a Zoom event not in person and there wasn t a headlining tour planned to promote this collection I do hope that Kat s work will eventually mature and that the world isn t subjected to any sophomoric poems 100 felt a bit too REMEMBER when i was sad glad it s in the past for my tastes as a perpetual Sad Lonely Girl 100 4. Thumbsucker poetry python 5 stars i m dizzy and looking for you blood is seeping between my fingers dripping onto the floor and i m looking for you can you come downstairs are you up there piling coats on the bed i need you to see this blood trail and make that joke you once made when i spilled the wine this time i ll be ready for it. Thumbsucker dvd This was a very enjoyable re readable collection of poems I particularly loved DM Me Your Address and Bloodletting on E 43rd Street I liked how humam they are feeling very lived in apartment building feeling very nostalgic for something not quite experienced correctly I like poems that just say exactly what they are telling a strange truth I could relate to aspects of the poems especially things referencing Twitter and blood so it was nice to visit something familiar but not mine. Book thumbsucker Also the cover is KILLER 100 Best poetry collection I ve read this year 100 Thumbsucker the third poetry collection by Kat Giordano is a celebration of the juvenile attention seeking and emotionally intense These poems are funny sentimental and so sharp they might make you cringe at the speaker or at yourself but won t flinch if you do A eulogy minus death plus balloons Kat Giordano s Thumbsucker is one of those bruised bloody knuckled cut lipped books that has flung itself into life and all its suffering and is here to tell you dripping in manna and umbra how it survived But behind this cast like a shadow at dusk is an argument that says despite its pain its ugliness life is beauty is splendor laughter and love Read these poems for the iron in them for Giordano s ability to rock you with a line like a surprise left hook Return for the way these poems part the dark to show you something bright it felt wrong of me to eulogize something I killed to miss it even and still not be sorry Todd Dillard author of Ways We Vanish ThumbsuckerIt s poetry month and with that I thought I d try a little poetry but non genre this time. Thumb suckers This collection was exactly as billed which is to say is a celebration of the juvenile attention seeking and emotionally intense These poems are funny sentimental and so sharp they might make you cringe at the speaker or at yourselfDefinitely cringe on a lot of these but in an endearing sort of way I honestly couldn t identify with a lot of the poems from the perspective of the author which was definitely emotional and raw but not being able to connect kind of dampens the enjoyability even if that s no fault of the authors Otherwise this is a 4 5 star collection 100 This collection has and is everything it s promised you Perhaps it s the quintessential femme experience or maybe it s the half milennial half Gen Z approval seeking coded throughout the collection but each poem is highly relatable Giordano really brings the contemporary to light by mentioning modern inventions in traditional form at times and the subjects aren t shy either I mean who growing up female doesn t remember their closest frenemy and male bully turned halfway lover These poems are a love letter to nostalgia even when you wish the bad parts would stop gnawing at you If you get the chance to hear Kat read these poems live as I did for a few you should definitely go fall in love with them all over again I promise it s worth your time 100 A singular defined voice is born in Thumbsucker Giordano s poetry acts as conduit and confession Memorable moments in this book are underscored by flashes of gritty metaphors If you have the opportunity to listen live please do 100 Edited review I read this collection as well as caught a performance by Kat while they were promoting Thumbsucker This was a collection that I really wanted to enjoy but as a whole Thumbsucker leaves the impression of a poet who is battling amateur themes While I did really enjoy a few selections from Kat s work there isn t anything profound within these pages It s a bit of a letdown. Thumb sucking appliance Hasn t indie poetry lit progressed further than this Note It s been brought to my attention that Kat put my review on blast on X stating that I was some ain t sh t weirdo on the internet. EBook thumbsucker imdb I took time out to attend Kat s reading and read this collection then wrote a review I would say that I m disappointed in Kat s immature response but after reading Thumbsucker I m not surprised I intended on reading additional works by Kat heard a lot of great things about Kat s first collection of work but I m going to pass As should you 100 Funny sad ironic earnest playful voice driven confessional poetry with swagger 100
